I would rate this 0 stars if I could. I forgot the password on a laptop I hadn't used in years, so I needed to reset it. I called ahead to check if this is something they could do and what the charge would be. I was told that they could do this and that there would be no charge. I go in the next day for my appointment and there, the geek tells me that there would be a 40 dollar charge, and that the lady I talked to before was probably a best buy employee, not an employee of geek squad. Okay, fair enough, maybe there's some miscommunication between business partners that they should address, but that isn't why I rate this 0 stars. I didn't want to pay 40 dollars for something I was pretty sure I could get the equipment to do myself for about 20 dollars, so I left without availing myself of geek squad's services. The next day, I search for a solution on google and find a FREE DOWNLOAD with FREE instructions on how to reset a password. I downloaded the software and followed the instructions and it worked! I got into my laptop for FREE. I'm giving geek squad 0 stars because they tried to charge me 40 bucks for something I was able to do FOR FREE. I can't help but wonder how many people they've ripped off, and I suspect that it's the same number of people who have ever paid them for anything whatsoever. Friends, please, DO NOT USE GEEK SQUAD. Google around for a free solution to whatever your problem is, and if that doesn't work, find another computer repair person or company that is not in the business of ripping people off. I understand that there's a convenience factor of having somebody do a task for you if you don't want to take the time to try and do it yourself, but judging by how hard it was for me to do this on my own, charging anything more than 5 bucks for this service is a rip off. In fact, there's a good litmus test for a computer repair person or company that is not in the business of ripping people off. Call ahead of time, and if they'll charge you over 5 bucks for a password reset, they're in the business of ripping people off and you should...
Read moreI purchased a router to use for our business internet quality and purchased the Geek Squad service with it they were very fast on taking the money but took 2 weeks to schedule my appointment. We waited for the tech to come after the 2 weeks and the scheduled time came and no one showed up. I called to check after 5 hours waiting from the scheduled time for them and had a very rude customer service person who didn't know anything about the appointment he said it is showing canceled from his end and he can reschedule. I asked why was it canceled he has no answer, no one contacted me and we waited 2 weeks for this appointment. I called again to see if I can talk to someone who can tell me what is going on, no one answered. I drove to the best buy store off Carlisle pike and at the front door I meet yet another rude customer service who shouldn't be the face of the store. Who was very short like I inconvenienced him or I am asking him for a favor and not doing his job. He simply told me he has no answer for me and I can cancel the order if I want to. To which I agreed and canceled my order, he was so rude to the point that I felt like canceling my credit card and just move somewhere else. I never had a bad experience like this from anyone at the store before but again I never dealt with an issue like this because I am normally in and out purchasing something. I then requested to talk to a manager and after a day someone named Robert called me to see how he can help. I explained the whole situation and he apologized, stated he will follow up and see if they can get me scheduled soon due to this issue and offer some type of discount to which I agreed. He said he will call me back soon to give me updates. It is 4 days now and I am still waiting to get a call back. This whole experience truly reflect on the poor quality of the management...
Read moreNot at all impressed with their "certified Apple support".. I took in an iPad that was having charging port issues, and was still under warranty. They took it in the back to do an official diagnostic, and told me they "could see physical damage with their microscope", so it was not covered under the Apple warranty and I would need to pay $249.99 for a refurbished replacement, or take it to a repair shop who will do a repair as Apple does not repair iPads, only replaces them. The tech at the repair shop they recommended tells me that he used to work for Geek Squad and they don't even have microscopes. Whether or not that is true I don't know, but he recommended I double check with an actual Apple store or send it to Apple. I filed for a service request with Apple directly, shipped it to them (which Apple paid for) and sure enough 3 days later I have a replacement in hand from Apple that was covered under warranty. I won't use Geek Squad for Apple products in the future, I'll stick with dealing with Apple directly and save myself...
