The footbridge over the Potomac river between Harper's Ferry and the C&O canal is closed indefinitely due to a train derailment taking out 100 feet or so on the Harper's Ferry end. As of March 2nd 2020 there is no estimate on when it will be rebuilt. At some point there is supposed to be a shuttle for the Appalachian trail...

Connecting the C&O Towpath to Maryland Heights Trailhead, those needing to travel to or from either side will need to utilize this incredibly short footbridge. To complete travel, a small staircase is required to climb.
