Planet Fitness — Attraction in Harrison Township

The manager at this location is unhinged and poses a potential danger to guests. I felt unsafe as he escalated what should have been a complete non-situation. Because I asked for his name. Seriously, that was it. I travel quite a bit for work and often find myself in towns where I don’t know a soul, which can be a scary and vulnerable place to be. I checked in to this location and asked a member of the front desk staff whether it would be Ok to use my laptop at one of the tables that I have always assumed existed for this purpose. I was working quietly when the manager approached me to ask whether I had checked in. I showed him my app and confirmed that I had. At this point I wasn’t certain anything was grossly amiss, but the implication could have been that I had come in off the street and randomly parked myself and a $3000 MacBook in his gym for Heaven knows what nefarious reason. He went on to say that he had received complaints, and, as I had done nothing but sit at a table, I was baffled and not sure whether this was true. Feeling shocked and unwelcome, I packed up my stuff and left. In the parking lot, I took a moment to reflect on how, with a different guest, this could have easily turned into one of those viral incidents with which we’re all familiar. Is this gym a safe space if you don’t read as white and straight? I went back in to ask the manager’s name. He refused to tell me and immediately went to “if you don’t leave, I’m calling 911.” Ok, so you want to weaponize law enforcement because I asked for your name? “This is your fault,” he tells me, “You’re escalating this.” I never even raised my voice. He is much larger and younger than me. I cannot see how any of this merited police involvement. Clearly I was not the one escalating things. He was freaking out and going from 0-2000, still screaming at me as I walked out the door. Did I not adequately respect his (Cartman voice) “authorité”? I guess not. But people like this are a menace. I was harassed and threatened for using the gym in what I had always believed was a normative manner. (Why is there even a black card lounge if you’re just supposed to work out and leave?) I imagine the threat that I posed was that I would call corporate and report this, so I had to be stopped by any means necessary. Similar machine quality and availability to other planet fitness locations. Customer service from Kasey or Casey was poor. I scheduled a massage chair appointment at 12:36pm, I head back toward the chair at 12:34pm and was stopped by the attendant Kasey saying she had to escort me back and the chair would not be available for another 6 minutes. I politely mentioned I had the apt for 12:36pm. She stated I had to wait and that she would let me know when she was ready to escort me. I waited in the lobby for another 10 or 12 minutes and it was clear she wasn't going to acknowledge me so I approached the counter asking if it was available and she said she forgot about me. I was the only one in the lobby area and I honestly think she made me wait intentionally. Regardless it's inappropriate and poor customer service not to honor an appointment and to forget a customer like that. Her tone and approach was also condescending. I'm not sure what I did to warrant such an interaction. I ended up canceling the appointment and asked for her name and stated I thought it was poor service to instruct me to wait and forget about me, and...

They’re more worried about upgrading customers to the black card to meet their quota then they are providing a good experience for the paying customers that have been using planet fitness for years. The customer service is terrible at this location.

This location needs new management.

The employee and the manager are completely rude. When you speak to them they talk over you trying to control the situation without hearing out the paying customer.
