Significant issues are:
Living right next to Red Bull Arena - Cobalt management must give a good-faith heads up to prospective tenants (they didn't give me any) that living right next to Red Bull during Summer is a significant inconvenience given the busy game season. Traffic in the entire town is a nightmare, your Uber/Lyft can't make it to you, forget having your friends and family drive over, forget ordering food. You need to plan your life based on the game schedule. I almost missed an international flight once as my ride couldn't reach/find me. I'm shocked how this overall situation isn't a major lawsuit yet - why would you construct (or allow construction of) major residential complexes right by sports stadiums despite the area having no reasonable parking facilities. I tried to broach this general topic with management but was shut down - they just shrugged their shoulders and asked me to contact the Town of Harrison instead. Don't forget - the noise from the stadium is another issue.
Guest Parking spots - the building has very few passes for guest parking. They are almost never available.
Amenities - the gym has seen some wear and tear, e.g., the TV in the gym hasn't worked for months and no one seems to have done anything about it. Several Yoga mats have gone missing. The coffee/cold brew stations in the common areas barely work. The stove/grill on the rooftop doesn't work.
The area itself - the building is probably is in the worst part of Harrison. There is a big stretch of road between Cobalt and the PATH station that has no street lights at night. Among the newer box shaped buildings that have sprung up in town, this one is the furthest from the PATH station and probably the more expensive one. There is a smelly river on one side of the building by Cape May St. There's an industrial park next door so Cape May St also gets a lot of heavy commercial truck traffic, specially throughout the night.
Front desk hours at night - very hit or miss. I've sometimes seen them stay beyond 10 pm, sometimes not. But either way, they are gone from late night to about 7/7:30 am in the AM. Doesn't feel safe. Specially if you have an emergency, lose your keys, etc. There is a helpline number which I called once when I was locked out late night due to a late flight in. They were not able (or willing) to help.
General upkeep - while the employees always seem to be very hard at work and I want to give credit where due (kudos to them), the general areas are often not clean. I've seen cigarette buds and pet poop in the corridors.
Management - not very responsive. There was a recent change of guard from one company to the next. Not smooth. It almost appears that we need to take appointments to speak w staff.
Internet - there were several instances when there were internet outages in the building. To their credit, I have not experienced these recently, but they have happened and took a while to fix. Something to do with adjacent civil work that impacted infra into the building. The point is, when they happened, I had to go beg for updates. There was no sense of proactive remediation, transparent communication of issues, timelines, etc.
Power surges - might be an issue with just my unit but there was a time when every now and then the power would just go off due to a surge (not caused by me - I don't use any heavy duty appliances). After several occurrences, they had to make a pretty massive change at the back end.
Courtyard Facing Units - these will deal with all sorts of issues from limited natural light, to noise coming through from movie nights/music/general chatter from visitors. Once in a while, have heard loud deafening music from there early AM which no one could...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe fire alarm goes off almost every month. Weāve had issues with the electricity. The trash room specifically on the 4th floor smells like literal feces 24/7. The management team could really use some improvement. Key fob stopped working for the elevators and apartment door. Went and asked to have it fix because I needed to leave and needed a way to lock the apartment and get back in when I get home. I was just told āwell call you when itās fixedā. Almost 3hrs later and Iām still waiting. Now I have no key fob, canāt leave the place because I canāt lock it and still no estimated time of when Iāll get my fob back. Poor assistance for residents.
UPDATE: 16 January 2023
The below response from Management is completely FALSE!
They stated that I tried to reach out about my fob āoutside of business hours due to the holidayā. This a completely false. Per the email sent out on Saturday 13 January, the holiday hours for MLK day were 10am - 4pm. I went to the front desk at 12:30pm. I handed my fob to the person working at the desk and they said would bring it to management to have it fixed.
I went to the front desk again at 3pm because I did not hear anything and wanted to catch management before they left. There was a new person working at the desk at this time and he had no clue what I was talking about, nor where my key fob was. I told him I would check back again later. Yet again, I went to the desk at 4pm and he stated no one from management has been around for a while and he hasnāt seen anyone. This is when he called maintenance, who also didnāt know anything about my fob I gave to the front desk 4 hours prior. It wasnāt until roughly 6pm that I finally got my key back.
Additionally, no one offered to lock my door for me. The front desk said I could call emergency maintenance to see if they could lock my door. So I was expected to call them to lock my door for me so I could leave, and then whatever time I got back, I was expected to call them again and wait for them to unlock it to let me get in my own apartment.
That is what REALLY happened and as a result, I had to cancel my plans to just stay home and wait for my key fob to be fixed 6 hours after I initially brought it to the front desks attention DURING the posted...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am giving The Wyles apartment building a five star rating based on what I have seen and what I have enjoyed here. Food! I have enjoyed watching this building, become part of a community in Harrison New Jersey. This building is a very chic and modern place to live. When first I saw the entrance inside the building I was stunned at how simply beautifully it was designed and decorated. In the lobby, sets of seating spaces eloquently done, carefully chosen colors, and itās opened. Windows are long and wide, and you can see the community growing up. The entrance to the mailbox and private rooms where you can think, right, make conversation over the cell, or sit in luxury enjoying the scene. The conciergeās are true conciergeās, Customer service is on point . Now there are many things that I am leaving out because I have not seen or had a tour of this building to write a more important, truly important review , about the living areas ,the apartments themselves. But I will get to that in the weeks coming. Tonight there was an invitation for the community to attend a Ball; āsnow ballā event, and most of the event took place in the lobby of the building, where there was a DJ that was āon itāand people were dressed in gowns and casual attire, which is really appropriate for the evening. Now, this is where the good part comes. I have photographs of the the Resturant and you will like this. One thing I want to say before I get to the kitchen is that there are two women part of the staff in this building that can help you with finding a home here or if you live here they can help with other things such as an event like this evenings, ā Snow Ballā. They are Fabulous ;Tia-Lyn and Francesca. If you canāt find them ask for more Fabulous people : Nelson or Kimberly
Do yourself a favor, give yourself an opportunity to live here just because you can and because itās one of the most beautiful buildings Iāve seen lately. Now to the photographs. Iām going to put them on and as I said they are mostly about the Resturant. You can go online take a look at this building and all the other lovely buildings around here and find a home . I apologize for any errors inside...
