Title: Unprofessional Behavior and Rudeness Displayed by Employee Ruth
I am writing this review to express my disappointment and frustration with the unprofessional behavior exhibited by an employee named Ruth. I witnessed an incident where Ruth acted rudely towards an 80 year-old woman simply because she referred to her as "hun" in a friendly manner, as she did not know Ruth's name.
Firstly, it is important to note that the elderly woman's intention was purely friendly and innocent. She was trying to establish a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which is something that should be encouraged in any customer service setting. However, Ruth's response was completely uncalled for and disrespectful.
Instead of politely correcting the customer or kindly introducing herself, Ruth responded with a condescending tone and an unnecessary display of rudeness. Her behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply hurtful to the elderly woman, who was left feeling embarrassed and humiliated.
As a customer, I believe it is crucial for employees to treat all individuals with respect and kindness, regardless of their age or familiarity. It is the responsibility of the employees to create a positive and inclusive environment for customers, especially for those who may be vulnerable or unfamiliar with the establishment.
Ruth's behavior not only tarnished the reputation of the company but also left a lasting negative impression on the elderly woman and other customers who witnessed the incident. It is disheartening to see such a lack of empathy and understanding from an employee who should be representing the company's values.
I strongly urge the management of to address this issue promptly and take appropriate action to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. It is essential to provide proper training and guidance to employees, emphasizing the importance of respectful and courteous behavior towards all customers.
In conclusion, the unprofessional and rude behavior displayed by employee Ruth towards an 80 year-old woman for referring to her as "hun" in a friendly manner was unacceptable. It is my hope that this review serves as a wake-up call for the management to address this issue and prevent similar incidents from...
Read moreVery impressive antique shop with an enormous selection. However, VERY cold and unfriendly vibes from the two people at the counter. The woman especially I immediately felt uncomfortable around. I had some books and needed a cabinet opened and she cut me off rudely that I first need to follow the rules and place those books in some special waiting section (fine, but there's a difference between asking and demanding). When she walked over to the cabinet she was staring the whole time I looked, every move conveying total impatience as if I was wasting her time from the very first second I pulled her away from her little protective plastic cocoon. Her colleague was similarly cold and as wooden as the antiques surrounding him. I don't know what kind of people they deal with there but it's a shame... it would be a great boon to the place if people with emotions were managing the store rather than robotic drill sergeants.
P.S. For those sensitive: be warned there are multiple blackface toys and figurines scattered around the place. I wasn't shocked as this is the ugly reality of American history and culture, but I did feel uncomfortable for their customers and question the reasoning of management. In my opinion these things should be in the trash somewhere and...
Read moreThe 2 stars are for the nostalgia. It was fun to go back in time with vast amount of items for sale here. A bit pricey but this is based upon the current guidelines or how the proprietor values each item. That being said, I wish my patronage had been valued in the same way. The store is huge! You can spend hours there. We were there for a good hour with our face masks on, when in a secluded area of the store, with no other shoppers around, my daughter slid her mask down to catch her breath. Within a few seconds the owner who was watching us via surveillance abruptly approached her and told her to put the mask on or leave. My daughter slid it back on, then was further critiqued with how she was wearing it. The experience was so embarrassing and insulting, we put our items down and left. On the way out I suggested kindness and consideration would have been a more shrewd business approach. We were accused of not taking the coronavirus seriously. I must concur with the other reviewers who’ve experienced the rude mannerisms there. It was too late in the day to try another store. There are several in the area. Afterward we ate at the Tidewater grille. The awesome food and service saved our day. ...
