Hands of Healing Wellness Studio @hohspa — Attraction in Hayward

I went here one time maybe a year ago and had an amazing massage and had originally rated this place 5 stars because it was so good. The woman who gave me my massage helped my pulled shoulder feel normal again and knew exactly how to fix it.

Today, I went in for a massage to address some pain I felt in my back and neck, hoping to have that same wonderful experience, and ended up disappointed.

To start, today's masseuse didn't ask me anything about any problem areas before having me get on the table. This is something I've had every other masseuse and masseur at several places (including this place the first time I went) ask me before proceeding. Then, when she came back in, I could barely hear her because the music was on too loudly.

She immediately started with my feet, with almost no pressure at all. This is also something every other masseuse and masseur has asked me, either at the beginning or during, to make sure the pressure is what I want. It didn't actually feel like a massage and instead felt like someone was just rubbing my skin with oil and shaking my body. Also, I felt a little violated with the way she did my legs. As requested, I left my underwear on, and several times as she was massaging my legs, she went all the way to the edges of my underwear and brushed up against it. That proximity is never necessary, and definitely not even helpful with how she was massaging.

When she got to my back, she didn't even notice the stress area. A good masseuse/masseur can feel areas of tension and any knots. I had to actually have her go back and address the area that hurt and point it out to her. At that point, she did put more pressure, but put pressure in a way that didn't feel right. She ran her arm against my spine, which was just bone on bone, making it uncomfortable and not helpful (where she was hitting was just skin and bone, the muscles aren't over there).

When she asked me to turn over, she didn't do a good job actually allowing me to turn over without exposing my bare chest. Additionally, as she was stretching my arms and back, she frequently would expose my bare chest and have to adjust the blankets after. Again, something that shouldn't happen and something that hasn't happened with any other person who massaged me.

In the end, I didn't really feel any better than I did when I came in, and was out $75 + tip. It felt like the masseuse I got today had no real training in massage and lacked professionalism related to personal boundaries.

I wish I got the names of who massaged me the first time and who massaged me today so that I could request the first lady again. While today's masseuse seemed like a very nice woman, I don't think I want her to massage...

Hard to find and has weird small rooms with no privacy, the massage rooms shares a movable cover with the receptionist office where patrons will sit and wait, same with the facial room. Also the rooms that are actual rooms you can hear people talking outside the whole time. Prices are good but service was horrible. I booked a party of 3 and they didn't bring enough staff in. it was my birthday and I had plans for that night. we got there at opening 10 am and we didn't leave till 2:30pm for just a massage and a facial for three people, something which I hadn't planned staying for longer than 2-3 hours. It was my birthday however both of my friends had both of their services done before I even got one of them. Overheard the employees talking about how they forgot about me in the sauna room for an hour and 45 minutes, where I was only supposed to stay in for 30 mins. Very upsetting. I was annoyed and hungry and I wanted to leave. They knew it was my birthday, they told me happy birthday, but another couple had a birrhday and they got 10 dollars off, which I did not. never coming back here again. spending extra money is worth way...

I have been seeing Tameka, the massage therapist at Hands of Healing, to help me with my chronic back pain problems on and off for over a year now. I do not know how I got so lucky finding Tameka, but I will be going back to her for the rest of my life. Tameka knows exactly where my pain is and she digs out the filth and makes me feel like a completely different person when I walk out. She brings my pain levels down to a 1-2 from 7-8. Tameka is nothing short of magic.

If you deal with pain in your body, anywhere, I highly recommend Tameka and Hands of Healing. Everyone here is pure, kind, and ready to make you feel and look good!

Tameka, thank you so much for all you do. I'm so glad you found your calling in healing and therapy, because you were meant to be doing this work. I always look forward to seeing you, as I know I'm going to walk away with almost no pain. Plus, you are just absolutely wonderful and delightful.
