This place is a hidden gem in Hayward! Very humbling place with even more humbling and kind people. The baguettes--oh, the baguettes! Let me tell you, folks. They are at the perfect crisp (but not hard to the point where it mutilates the roof of your mouth. IYKYK). They are freshly made everyday and throughout the day. The steps making them looks so meticulous to maintain consistency. I can eat these baguettes by themselves, they're so addictive. I ordered the traditional cold cut Vietnamese sandwich (banh mi thit or sometimes called "dac biet"). Each bite was balanced with the crispy but soft and fresh baguettes, the savory traditional deli meats, pickled daikons, and buttery pate. Vietnamese banh mi thit just have a special place in my heart and I'm thankful La Ca takes pride and passion to make it beautifully.
I also got a "dirty" matcha which has a shot of drip coffee in it (matcha lovers, please forgive me 🙏) but I'm a caffeine fiend!! So delicious with the shot of drip coffee (using the traditional Vietnamese phin filter).

Read moreI've been to some really bad places to eat but Lee's Sandwiches tops them all. I ordered their beef stew and it was unedible, I'm not even sure that the beef was really beef. I also ordered two sandwiches to go when I open the sandwich the cheese was moldy and the lettuce was not fresh. It was like the sandwich had been left out for 3 days. When I tried to return the items I had bought, the staff was extremely rude. And I asked for the manager's name and number they wouldn't give it to me, they said there was no way to get in touch with him. I really think I deserved a refund, and I certainly did not accept their credit offer to come back at a later day. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone not even my worst enemy. Mothers beware I don't think the restaurant is kept very clean and I certainly wouldn't want a child...
Read moreI do not understand why this place's reviews are unbelievably low! Then I realized that Google for some reason kept the reviews for Lee's sandwiches, and La Ca does a much better job!! They are not a chain, they are a new local business that just has this one location.
I have loved everything I've gotten here, and honestly they keep improving their baguettes and everything as time goes on. Some of the best banh mi I've had, and their pate choux is absolutely delicious. The chicken chouxs are beautiful flaky pastry filled with chicken that tastes like a great chicken stew. Haven't tried the pork yet.
For drinks they have some of their own I haven't seen before. The sea cloud is sweetened coffee with sea cream, which is like slightly salty cream that when mixed with the coffee actually gives it a great salted...
