This review is not reflective of the store, products, or the majority of the staff currently employed at the time of this post. I am leaving this review as a complaint in regards to a completely avoidable negative experience I had today with one of FGC's weekend employees. I have been shopping and doing firearm/suppressor transfers at this establishment for years. I even purchased my very first firearm here. Today I went in for a routine firearm transfer. I am usually assisted by Alex, Ray or the manager, Robert, since I visit the store during the week. All great individuals. Today I was attended by (what I can only assume) is a newer employee that is a bit green in regards to how firearm transfers works at FGC. Not a big deal since it's understandable to not know everything when first learning things in this line of work, or at a new store. He asked another employee for assistance on how to proceed, and this is where the negative experience occurred. When I transfer firearm's from other FFL's to FGC, its commonplace that I will visit the store to fill out my 4473 and pay the transfer fee in advance before the firearm actually arrives, so that everything is good to go when I receive the phone call for pickup. Mind you, I have been doing this for years and is a completely legal and common practice among most, if not all FFL's. The other employee (which I had the issue with) comes over and starts giving the newer employee all sorts of bad information regarding this practice that is just flat-out untrue. He made a specific statement saying that you can't fill out 4473's or charge for a transfer fee before arrival because you don't know if the firearm is stolen or if the individual paying for it is a felon. Understandable, but in my case I ask the employee what he's talking about by pulling out my Driver's ID and CWP to confirm that my firearm isn't stolen, that I can simply show him the Gunbroker order with all of the necessary information without any issues, even stating that I have been doing it this way at FGC for years with no problems. He then rudely proceeds to tell me that he's talking to his coworker, not me, and that I am being aggressive. I ask him what his problem is and confront him that he's completely wrong about the information he's relaying to his coworker. Dude keeps escalating the situation, even sneakily asking me if I'm an ATF agent or Fed and threatens to kick me out of the store with zero authority or reason, even though he was the one completely out of pocket and I've been shopping and doing transfers at FGC before he even started working there. He then randomly disengages and says he's no longer going to speak with me. The manager, Robert, steps in and proceeds to complete my transfer with no issues while teaching the newer employee how it's done. I didn't receive any sort of apology or attempt at making amends with this employee even though he was clearly in the wrong, and had a heated argument with me in front of his other employees and customers, even requiring a level-headed customer to step-in and help diffuse the situation. I have been working in the firearms industry for almost a decade, even still currently employed at a different store, so I am fully aware of how this business works. I have never seen this type of behavior towards a customer from an employee at any gun store before today, and I have worked at some questionable locations in the area. Nasty individual and dangerous behavior from somebody who proudly displays his firearm at work. I don't know his name, but it's not really important. Avoid the white male who's about 5'10, has a buzzcut and wears glasses if possible, complete clown with an ego/power trip. I will definitely not be visiting FGC on weekends anymore unless I have to just to avoid any sort of interaction with...
Read moreThe range is nice, the reception area is clean and feels new. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. The payment is super easy: fill out an online waiver (QR code on the wall) pay the fee under $30 if I remember correctly, and you are ready to go. You can also rent guns, buy ammunition, and other firearm related items.
The range has 12 lanes or so, it has never been full when I have gone. They regularly sweep together the empty cartridges. I like the multiple storage options in each booth. You can roll up and unused targets and put them in a holder on the wall, a small boxed area for ammunition, especially helpful if you have loose rounds. I really like that they have a couple of lanes for rifles and shotguns! Those are behind an additional door, so if someone is shooting something really loud it is somewhat softened.
Parking is somewhat limited, but I've always found a spot. There is a sperate area for new (and limited used) firearms and firearm related products. The products are well thought through and hand selected. They seem to choose products with great quality and usability. So if you are looking for a gift for someone who chooses to exercise their 2nd amendment rights, this is a good place to stop by. I wish that they also had a "discount corner" and a bit larger used section. The other sperate area is for training.
In total I really like the place, there is no hard selling or pressure upselling going on, although all the staff is helpful and interested in everyone who walks in. The range is easy to navigate and organized with enough regulation and management to make it feel safe. The staff is super friendly and freely support with their...
Read moreThe guys at the Florida Gun Center are awesome. I am a retired police officer from Virginia and recently moved to South Florida. I have been looking for a gun center that I felt comfortable with and one I could trust.
The guys here are probably the most welcoming, supportive and professional group of gun enthusiasts I have met in a long time. I went to this store the first time with my daughter who also loves to shoot. I met and dealt with Andy the first time I walked into the store. I told him what type of handgun I was looking for and my intended use for the gun. He walked me through my options and helped me decide which one was best for me taking into consideration my criteria. Most importantly, he never pressured me or tried to "sell" me. I ended up buying the gun I felt most comfortable with based on all the information Andy provided. I will definitely buy here again. I also found the store to be competitively priced compared to other gun stores in the South Florida area.
During my second visit I met Ike. Ike has a way of making you feel welcome as though he is inviting you into his own home. Ike conducts the firearms training which I will take advantage of for my daughter and as refresher training for myself as well.
It is very apparent, the guys here have the old school approach we don't see too much these days. That is: "Take care of the customer and they will take care of you."
I look forward to future gun purchases and range time here. I believe I've found my favorite place to gun...
