I go to this park for Basketball. The park is always very well maintained, and is technically open 24/7.
The technicality is dorky, as apparently the flood light system is only able to be turned on until 11pm where it will automatically shut off and any attempts to turn them back on again does not work. It doesn't make sense to have such a thing in place when it is a 24 hour park and the lights are there for patrons to turn on with ease. Outside of this, it is such a great park.
There is a outhouse/porta potty by the sport courts on the north end of the park, while there is public restrooms at the center of the park by the main entrance, sport fields and play area, which also supplements this with a couple OHs too, as they host a lot of soccer events here.
Even with the opening of Hidden Creek Park West, which is across 53rd behind the community center, there can be insufficient parking, especially during events and mid-spring through early autumn. So be prepared to go elsewhere to enjoy the park, or, find a parking lot which you are allowed to park in further away.
The park is accessible via MAX at Hawthorne Farm station, which is a short walk through parking lots, and a awkward crosswalk at the intersection of 53rd and Elam Young. If you are disabled, or only wish to walk along sidewalks, you'll either have to jaywalk across Elam Young, or just not take MAX or the 48 here. The 47 however does allow better, closer access, though it runs so infrequently you may as well say screw it and walk here.
I would personally love to see better transit accessibility, as well as better management of the water fountains (and more of them), and maybe one more basketball court, so that it doesn't get completely filled up and your trip was pointless, which I have had to do a couple of times, going back the other way to the THPRD Rec Center on...
Read moreA wonderful community park with something for everyone. There are sports fields for baseball, soccer, playgrounds for children of all ages and a dancing water fountain for kids to run amok as the water spurts from their feet into various heights rhythmically. A clean restroom and Activity Center too.
My personal favorite is the combination 2 Tennis and 6 Pickleball courts.
Hidden Creek Community Pickleball HAD a fabulous volunteer run Pickleball program which the City abandoned. It gave folks a scheduled program so beginners and advanced players could learn and enjoy this awesome game. Now it's open play, first come, first serve.
Hidden Creek East is across the street from the new Hidden Creek Community Center and the Hidden Creek West playgrounds and amenities that ate noteworthy too.
There is something...
