Dolphin Seafari — Attraction in Hilton Head Island

Outstanding Accessibility and Dolphin Cruise Experience!

The entire team at Dolphin Seafari was exceptionally accommodating for our group, especially considering my mobility limitations. We initially booked the sunset cruise, but upon arrival, the walkway to the dock presented a significant accessibility challenge due to the severe steepness at low tide, making it unsafe for me to navigate. The team was incredibly understanding and promptly rescheduled us for the very next day's high tide trip. This made all the difference! The steepness of the accessible walkway was greatly reduced, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure the boat was front-loaded, allowing for a safe and easy transfer directly from the dock onto the vessel. Once on board, the Captain and Guide were not only personable and fun but also incredibly knowledgeable. They ensured we had an amazing time and saw plenty of dolphins! The comfortable seating and overhead cover provided a pleasant and protected environment for the entire 90-minute journey. The gentle sea breeze added to the enjoyment, making for a truly memorable and accessible dolphin watching experience. Boat ride & on board staff were great! We saw dolphins multiple times. Learned a lot about dolphins, oysters & HHI from our host. But we arrived early and checked in at the activity kiosk were told to walk around until 10 till and we would be taken to the boat. We were the first to check in. We went to the shop below Ela's & to the restroom. When we came out the boat was on the dock with a couple & two kids. So my husband went up & asked if we could get a seat upfront, since we were the first to check in. The couple & kids on board had chosen the other front seats. She said no. When we were allowed to board, we ended up being last other than a party of 5 who were running late. She didn't care & this was my first cruise ever. It appeared the couple & kids were given top priority & others were not. I later learned they were from the Disney resort and therefore picked up first. So if you go know DISNEY CUSTOMERS GET first choice of seats. But seat choices at the marina should have been given by order of arrival! I would give 5 stars to the actual trip, captain & host and 3 stars for the boarding, seating & customer service by activity kiosk personnel!. Averages out to the 4 stars...

It's impossible to adequately describe our experience with Dolphin Seafari. The four of us were picked up at the Disney Hilton Head Resort, across the water from their office, and after picking up 12 other passengers at the office, our journey of 1.5 hours began. As Capt. Jason expertly maneuvered the pontoon boat, Deb began her expert narration of our dolphin quest. As she described many aspects of dolphin life, we proceeded to the open area of water where their experience tells them the dolphins usually show up. We were not disappointed, as we encountered a female dolphin and her cub which graced us with their swimming prowess, as Deb continued to regale us with scientific and fun facts that helped us to better appreciate this intelligent, caring species. One of a recurring mysteries of life to me is why the dolphins for thousands of years have been fascinated and protective of humans, and I can only respond that it is a true blessing.
