I was really looking forward to my Hydrafacial at Restore after a stressful week, but unfortunately, I left feeling more stressed than when I arrived. The Hydrafacial itself was fine, but the overall experience was far from relaxing.
The room I was placed in was directly next to the front door and front desk, with no soundproofing or method in place to drown out the inevitable noise of clients coming and going. Throughout my facial, I could hear loud conversations, yelling, and cabinets slamming, which made it impossible to relax. When the esthetician left after the service, a man who had been speaking with the front desk was able to see directly into the room while the door was open. I was half-dressed at the time and felt very uncomfortable and frustrated there were no privacy measures in place for anyone who receives services in that room.
Afterward, I wasn’t given or offered a chance to use the restroom before being taken to the red light therapy room. The staff member who escorted me said nothing—he simply walked to the room while I stood at the front desk, and then stood there until I followed. I was originally supposed to receive lymphatic drainage but was given red light therapy instead with no explanation, but at that point, I felt so flustered that I just wanted to get it over with, not ask questions. I ended up needing to leave the red light therapy early because I had to use the restroom.
Overall, I spent over an hour listening to constant noise during what should have been a calming facial, and I left feeling tense and uneasy, which isn’t how you expect to feel when you are spending almost $300 on a service. Despite this, I was still asked multiple times about signing up for a membership and was told I “needed” to be back in a month for my next Hydrafacial, so when was a good day for that, even though it was clear I was uncomfortable and just wanted to leave.
To make matters worse, when checking out, no option to leave a tip appeared on the screen, and I was not asked if I wanted to leave one for my esthetician, who wasn’t present, I was just handed a receipt. I had come prepared with cash for her because I always tip for services I receive, regardless of the overall experience, which was not her fault. I thought this was odd, but that maybe it was a medical spa policy thing they had, since I have received Hydrafacials before at a “No Tips Allowed” policy med spa in Ohio. About a minute after I got to my car, I received a phone call asking if I wanted to leave a tip—something I had already planned to do with cash, which was very frustrating. I found that follow-up to be very unprofessional and awkward.
I’m not someone who usually leaves negative reviews, but I was genuinely shocked by my experience, and have debated posting this review for the last few weeks. I did not express these concerns to the staff while checking out because I simply wanted to leave the establishment, not have a very awkward conversation about what a bad time I had just had, especially since signing up for a membership was being pushed and so was booking my next appointment. While the facial itself was fine, the environment and overall service were not conducive to relaxation. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t personally recommend Restore to anyone looking for a calm or...
Read moreI don’t even know where to start. My life was in complete disarray, and Restore put me back together piece by piece. Going to Restore is like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Going to Restore is like seeing the pearly gates of Heaven for the first time. Going to Restore is like your parents telling you that you are going to the dentist but they are secretly taking you to Disney World. Restore aided with the birth of my first child. Restore taught me how to ride a bike. Restore saved my cat from a tree. I watched Restore save 11 orphans from a burning building with my own two eyes.
My favorite story about Restore and I is when we stopped at the CircleK to get some snacks for our beach day, and Restore said they were feeling lucky so they were going to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket. We return to the car with our goodies and the lottery ticket. Restore gets out the shiniest July 2024 penny I had ever seen and starts scratching away. Come to find out, their intuition was right — they were lucky. Very lucky. That ticket was the grand prize ticket, amounting in one million dollars and second row center orchestra tickets to any Sunday matinee performance of “Chicago” at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Completely consumed with envy, I started to tear up. Restore looks at me, seeing my reaction, and uses their two fingers to lift my chin up and wipe the tears from my cheek. They look at me and say without any hesitation, “I want you to have it.” I was able to pay off my student loans. I was able to buy my parents a house to retire in.
Restore is the love of my life. I spend every second I am away yearning for the blissful euphoria that is Restore Hyper Wellness Hilton Head Island.
