I am an avid shopper of TJ Maxx and never leave reviews, but our checkout experience at the Hilton Head location was horrible. There was no greeting and every communication by the cashier, Maria, appeared very aggravated. We split our purchase into two purchases, which further aggravated her attitude. No smiles at any point in the transaction. We then tried paying with a friends and family discount card only to be interrogated with questions around the store it is from. Questions we have never received in the 50+ transactions to date. It was very clear this associate was having a bad day so despite the service, we remained calm despite being a bit shocked by her attitude. We purchased a lot of clothes we hoped to use for vacation photos or else I probably would have left the clothes at the counter. What is most surprising is the fact we believe she was the manager on duty. If this is how she treats customers, I’d be concerned how she runs the store. Read moreMy wife and I are on vacation here. She decided to do some shopping at this TJ Maxx during our last evening here... About 6:30pm on Sunday 2/3/22. When she headed toward the fitting room, an employee jumped in front of her, closed up the fitting room, and said "sorry, we are short staffed, I'm going to have to close up the fitting room." She told my wife to take the clothes to the front and let them hold them until tomorrow. My wife explained that we will not be here tomorrow. The employee did not respond, but then she got angry when my wife started hanging up the clothes on the rack as opposed to doing... well, what else was she supposed to do with clothes she couldn't buy? Look, I have nothing to prove to you and certainly not to TJ Maxx, but I will at least say we are far from trashy. So why was she treated like shoplifting white trash? Read moreI was so excited to finally go out and shop at my favorite store. My experience was ruined at this location due to an employee with a “karen” attitude. I was waiting in line, with my mask on, just like everyone else and simply approached the woman working the door to ask her when we could come in, since we had seen 20 people leave and we were all still not allowed in. I only asked because the man on duty before was letting people go in one by one as each person came out and this woman was not watching the line or door at all. She proceeded to get nasty and smart with me, before I even had the opportunity to speak. I nicely told her I was not here to argue and understand the circumstances but I’m allowed to ask.
