This restaurant was a nightmare. Tried to call to place a take out order because multiple items we wanted from their online menu (kids meals, mozzarella sticks) were not offered to order online. The phone was busy and it instructed me to call back later. So I ordered online. The online ordering system defaulted to a 20% tip. I changed it to ten percent but it still went through as 20%. After the order was placed I am told that the wait time for my order is one hour. About 20 minutes later it updated and told me the wait for my food to be ready would be another 30 minutes LONGER than originally told. So 1.5 hour wait for take out. After about 45 minutes got a text saying my order was ready for pick up. I waded through a sea of people and staff to be told that the text was incorrect and my order would be at least another 45 minutes. Was informed the online ordering service is not them and they prefer customers to call...even though the lines are busy and you can’t get through to place an order. If the restaurant does not like the online ordering service they use for their customers, they should find a new one. So I was told they would call me once the order was ready and would add free mozzarella sticks to the order since we had been unable to order them online. So after another 30 minutes of waiting I get a call the food is ready. Pick it up and take it home to find that they did not include the mozzarella sticks, or the ranch I paid for to go with my zucchini or the bread that was supposed to come with the pasta dish. In addition to that, the majority of the sauce from the penne Alfredo pasta leaked all in the bag because it was not sealed properly making a huge mess and leaving the pasta with practically no sauce.
UPDATE - Thank you, Jill, for your response to my review. The fact that you as the owner read your customer reviews and respond to them is great. Makes the customer feel heard. And thank you also for the refund. We did receive it and it was much appreciated. I think you went above and beyond what most restaurant owners...
Read moreI recently ordered takeout from Giuseppe‘s for 14 people. I ordered takeout and was staying about 15 minutes from the restaurant. We ordered a variety of different foods. When I arrived to the restaurant to pick it up, they assured me everything was ready for me that was packed in multiple bags and boxes. When I arrived back to our rental home, we realized two of the entrées were missing I called the restaurant and told them two entrées were missing and they said they would make me the items that were missing and to come back and pick them up. I drove back to Giuseppe’s to pick up the two entrées. This was a 30 minute round-trip to pick up the food for second time. I asked for a manager to talk about the missing items. The manager did not apologize and said the items were being made. I asked the manager to comp the two items that were missing. I spent over $240 for all of the entrées, plus a tip that I gave to the takeout employees The manager refused to even discount the items and said he either would refund me or give me the missing entrées. I took the entrées because I had to feed the two of my family members that needed to have their dinner of course. The best the manager offered to me was literally one slice of Keylime pie, which sells for eight dollars. That did not even equal the two items that were missing that cost over $25. It was basically an insult to me. Not a way that I would be running a restaurant let alone even considering I spent over $240 on the bill. I hope this was worth it for Giuseppe’s. Also, I have been here many times in the past with my family when we visit Hilton head every year. This was our first time ordering takeout, however. I recommend to avoid this place if you’re ordering takeout. They do not stand by their service. This is a horrible policy. There are other choices on Hilton Island. We are going back in September and will give our business to another...
Read moreResponse to owner:
I was not intoxicated and do not remember any heated interactions or restraints. I remember this because I had ONE drink. Again, our bill at the table was $70. You do the math because your math is not mathing. As far as for the comments, about drinking at the bar my husband had two beers and one shot with the local customer. One of those beers were consumed at the table. By no means, does that equate intoxication for a male that is 5’10 and 175 lbs. Let’s be clear, I am not embarrassed. I am confused by the strange interactions with your staff. Overall, I do not appreciate tone and implications of your response. As a business owner, it is embarrassing that you are lying to put your restaurant in a better light. How shameful.
PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE DINING HERE: we went to eat dinner here with a group of friends. During our hour wait time each of us had one cocktail. We sat down and ordered dinner, and two of our friends ordered a beer. At the end of our meal and unprompted, the server informed us that we were all cut off and none of us would be able to order any more alcohol. We asked for a greater explanation of what happened and why this decision was made, and neither the manager nor the server could give us one. The manager informed us that he would call the police if we continued to push. Mind you at this point, three of us only had one drink and two of us had a couple of beers over the span of two hours. By no means, were we intoxicated and causing a scene. I have never been treated so poorly for no reason at all any restaurant in my life. Additionally, the fact the manager could not provide a reason, and immediately jumped to he would be calling the police is a gross use of power and scare tactics. Needless to say, I will never visiting this restaurant again. I will also be sure to share my negative experience widely, and not recommend to this restaurant to any...
