My nephew was in town for the week and we wanted to take him to our favorite arcade in town! Bonus….they also have laser tag! Unfortunately, after we arrived it was very apparent that this would no longer be our favorite arcade. Not only did they jump on the corporate bandwagon and get rid of the best part of a true original arcade (tokens & tickets), they also blocked out and entire 2 hours for a group of teenagers to play laser tag. We had two adults and two 8 year olds in our group so we asked the worker if we could just play one quick game first which only runs 8 to 9 minutes or play after they've played a few rounds. The group arrived 15 minutes after their 6pm reservation time and the worker said there was nothing he could do and there would be no possible way for us to play a round. The other worker, who was the only breath of fresh air at the Lost City, said that her coworker should have allowed it and it shouldn't have been an issue. I found this funny because during my daughter's 7th birthday party last year we also reserved the laser tag room for unlimited plays during the party. When we arrived the same worker who turned us down was the one who greeted us and let us know that we could play first but had to allow other groups to play as well. Which leads me to believe that this group of teens must have been his friends. Either that or we were just being treated differently than other groups. Both scenarios are no good and this visit definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. On top of that, their prices and tickets are very confusing now and a few of our favorite games were out of order. When complaining to the staff, the same worker said that I was the first person to complain about the changes and that everyone else seems to like them. I also found this funny because we were THE ONLY group in the entire arcade, other than the laser tag group. You won't have any complaints if there are NO customers. And treating long time loyal customers the way we were treated is not a way to keep people coming back. I'm sorry to say but with all the competition out there I feel like the lost city will be one of the unfortunate businesses to close it's doors...
Read moreTravelled to Holland from the SE side of the state for a week stay and had this place eagerly pegged for a rainy day activity. Prices felt quite steep for a family of 5 from the get go but if it lived up to some basic expectations, we were going to be ok with it. It did NOT do that. Right off the get go, the arcade is quite small and when you see how many credits are required for some fairly basic games (10-40 credits PER PLAY of a 125 package), your game play is over before it begins. Kids see a game, quickly swipe to play in excitement not caring how many credits required and their day is over. OR pay even more. Ok, let's try to pivot to the mini bowling of only 2 lanes where a party of approx. 20+ people had basically camped out in front of it and completely took it over for the duration of the day. So we paid for it but simply had no option to play it. How the business allows this is beyond me. Mini golf was kind of fun but it was incredibly humid in there. Got to play laser tag and the instructor left a lot to be desired. She seemed disinterested and then disappointed she actually had to show the majority of the group (20+) the video on how to do it since none of us had been here before. Seriously? By the time another game was going to be played, we didn't even play our afforded second round after it was all said and done because we had no arcade credits and bowling still not an option. When playing the video games at places like this you usually earn credits/tickets to some basic toys, gifts or candy after the fact. One last chance for this place to redeem itself. After a family of five had dropped $125 for these activities (no food included) they earned enough for 2 lollipops and 2 plastic toys you'd get out of 25 cent machine. I'm not a fan of writing negative reviews but this one had to be written. We felt completely ripped off and would never recommend this place to anyone without serious...
Read moreWent for a birthday party and they didn't seem aware of the booking from a month prior room wasn't set up or ready and initially they tried to act like the total wasn't already paid. Older woman who was working and running events tried to act kind but it seemed very fake and forced. Once tables were set the scissors were left sitting in the room for the kids so we moved those out the way room was small and there's gum on the floors pizza box cut outs covering vents the laser tag over look wasn't available to use to watch kids play. Everything was late because the room wasn't ready first game of laser Tag was 30 minutes late to start pizza was 25 mkns later then we were told making the rest of the games also late. We almost didn't get our 3rd game but we went over and requested it. Also no candy on tables, we didn't get included ice cream dessert until we were literally supposed to be leaving the room. When you pay 500 for a party it's pretty disappointing that it wasn't prioritized and we were treated like a problem for asking for rhe things included. I have 3 kids parties a year and won't really consider this an option moving forward unfortunately. Had parties here before which were much better but its not something you really...
