TLDR: Food is excellent. Service is wonderful. Welcoming atmosphere. Make a reservation. You can eat at the cafe without a membership or museum admission (tell front desk you are just dining), but the museum itself is lovely, so don't deprive yourself on the visit.
HoMA Cafe is one of my favorite spots in Honolulu. The food is always fresh, portions are substantial, and you can choose something healthy or something a little (or quite) indulgent dependent on your mood. Marco, Heather, Kaela, Joey, Mercy, Teresa, Andrea, June, and Kenny always deliver a wonderful experience. (The staff in the kitchen must be fabulous, too, I just don't know their names, but mahalo for consistently turning out delicious food!) If you like chocolate, don't skip the pot de crème (no photo, must remedy on my next trip). Perfect for a peaceful solo dining experience or to meet up with friends or co-workers. Friday evenings (the only evening the cafe is open) usually feature live music, and Sunday brunch is fantastic, too. Best to make a...
Read moreIncredible brunch spot! Its partially open air and inside the museum so you can see a few pieces of artwork right from your table. We went right when they opened at 11 on a Sunday. Service was great. We tried the steak and eggs, shakshouka, ginger lemonade, and POG mimosa. The steak and eggs were very good. The eggs were scrambled almost to perfection. The steak was a tad tough at their medium rare, but i had no complaints about the flavor. The steak also came topped with some sort of chimichurri sauce and that was delicious! It had a little bit of a kick and went very well with the eggs too.
Parking is free right along the front of the museum on Sundays, so that was a massive perk as well. Highly recommend for...
Read moreWhat a delightful surprise to find a PERFECT turkey sandwich in such a gorgeous setting! Don't wait for Thanksgiving leftovers because you won't be able to match this experience. Thickly sliced, moist, tender breast meat, succulent tomato & crisp lettuce between slices of the freshest bread, and generous portions of each ingredient. Then there's the cranberry condiment on the side that you may want to just eat with a spoon! All that would be more than enough for 5 stars, but no, they're going for perfect here. There is also a generous salad of lightly dressed greens with candied walnuts. I mean, come on, how often do you find perfection? Mahalo to the...
