Kapahulu Shopping Center — Attraction in Honolulu

Safeway is the only reason you find me here honestly. They're open late and so I come here to use the bathroom while driving Uber. Then I grab me a few items I need while I'm in here before getting back on the road or before going home if it's the end of my night. They have a lot of services in this store that could be useful for customers in the daytime. For tourist I would only say to not try to buy Alcohol within 10 minutes of Midnight if there's a line. Because the Registers won't allow it to be rang up and even if the transaction has already started it won't go through once the clock strikes 12am. So please plan ahead to avoid the disappointment that I see all to often. The cashiers are normally aware of this situation and will try to expedite the transaction on your behalf to help you make it before the deadline...

It's called a shopping center but really there are few stores and all of them are in the shadow of one giant Safeway which is a terrific Safeway. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I drive with a handicap license plate because I'm handicapped and I need to have accessible parking slots so it won't be that long a walk to the door from where I parked the car and this place has inadequate parking places reserved for the handicap. There are four but it's a huge store in the middle of a shopping center and four is wrong. I have complained to the local organization and they are investigating this cuz that's what this company that I have contacted does. They have sent somebody out to see what's going on there and they will report back to me they're finding sometime soon...

Many good eateries, including Safeway, are here (Hello, Chronic Tacos!). The parking mostly sucks; especially during Safeway's $5 Fridays. You can drive around and around again, and that car that just entered the parking lot will make it to that newly opened stall first every single time it feels like. As hard as it is, even after my consistent store-level parking failures, bite the bullet and use the ramp to the right to park upstairs. The elevator works, and you won't be cussing up a storm in your car because you can't find parking at the store level. Just try to shop in the morning or in the evening - it's extremely hot on the second-floor parking, and your car will feel like the pit of hell when you return with...
