Sanrio Surprises — Attraction in Honolulu

It’s great we have a Sanrio store on island! But agree with several other reviewers that the store is way overpriced. And not just “Sanrio” expensive… but beyond normal expensive.

For example, a small hello Kitty red bento lunch container was priced at $31!! My sister had just purchased the exact same one two weeks ago from Don Quijote for $14. It was more than twice the price here!

The items with the Sanrio pricing tags were fine. But it was all the items without Sanrio price tags that the store up-charged ridiculously with their bright orange stickers. Did not make me want to buy anything.

Their assortment and selection was just okay. And items looked like they had been collecting dust a little too long too. This store has potential but owners could be better about being customer focused and putting a little more attention and care into their product presentation...

We are so disappointed in this store!! We took a item back that my granddaughter purchased because her Auntie bought her the same thing. It was still wrapped in plastic wrap and we hade the receipt. They said no returns due to Covid. What! Why are they taking advantage of that?! They could have sprayed the wrap with anti bacterial. Plus Covid doesn’t stay on surfaces!! My granddaughter has $800 from her job and graduation money. When we walked in for the return she told me that she saw some new stuff in the store since we were in a week before. I hadn't been to a Sanrio store since 4th grade, so when I saw this one I had to go. It's a small store and has a lot of Hello Kitty stuff, but I was disappointed with the lack of merch for other characters, especially Keroppi frog! He's the cutest one, fight me. Anyway, the staff was very sweet and one lady tried to find me all the Keroppi items she could. Yes it was expensive but I don't remember Sanrio being cheap, even in the 90s. Definitely a must go if you or your child/family member is a fan of Hello Kitty. If the big wigs are reading this, don't ignore the other original characters!
