IF YOU HAVE DENSE COARSE HAIR DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHANCES HERE. Update: I did call the salon a week later and spoke to Ashley, the owner, asking for a 50% reimbursement. She instead offered that I return for a "re-do" with her which I declined. I let her know I could stop by for them to look at my haircut but would not allow them to cut it again. Ashley said that I was not being fair for not allowing them to fix it. But why would I? Do not be delusional, Ashley. No one pays $100+ for a haircut to have to come back to fix. We expect a well experienced stylist with technique, attention to detail and creativity. Not a razor carved hairstyle, which you may be able to get away with other people. No way would I risk you trying to blend my chopped up hair with a razor. Not even a flat iron or wand can hide all the mistakes in my hair. My stylist performed my service in 30mins. That was the razor cut, half blow dry and no style. She didn't even offer a mirror to view the back and I see why. While I can forgive the stylist for perhaps not being experienced with my hair type or not having a sense of direction, I absolutely cannot accept your cheap apology. Had I allowed a redo I would've expected 100% reimbursement for doing YOU the favor. Which truthfully I'm entitled to for having me looking like Norman Freeman for my birthday and this whole week. Everyone stares and ppl have told me not to return to wherever I got "THAT" done at. So here's the $100 hair your salon gave me. I would hope that you at least apply it towards a hair texture theory class for your salon. If you are like me and are in search of a stylist that is expert in shear cutting and has an exceptional eye for detail and an interest in customer satisfaction I recommend Salon Per Se. They were able to give me a style that I can wear, but I did have to go much shorter to blend the gaps and match the uneven layers until my hair grows out to my desired length. OP: First off, the staff is really nice overall. I like the style and atmosphere of the salon. My stylist was pleasant throughout. I felt that we had a pretty good thorough consultation. I shared some concerns I had about razors and past experiences and she reassured me so I'm not sure what happened. I got a short cut with long top. After the cut, she blow dried it a bit and allowed me to run my hands through my hair for any little tweak. Seemed fine so I left. Later in the day once it dried completely, I realized all my concerns were present. My hair is quite thick so the razor created some holes and chunks instead of a feather effect on the shorter part. I do believe the stylist used her best judgement, and I knew better. There were some random long strands and hair was still left on the nape area which would've been obvious if my hair had dried out completely. For the price I did expect more attention to the small details. I was able to clean that up at home but will have to let it grow out some more for the gaps to fill in since I don't want to go much shorter. My hair is thick, dense and almost straight but I do think this style of cutting would work for medium to thinner hair.

I really wanted to love this salon seeing that they had an option to pay extra for length and thickness. My hair is extremely long so its been difficult finding a stylist that can manage the length and volume. I am leaving this review to warn other people who have invested great time/money into their hair. To put a long story short, I payed $120 for this haircut a little over a year ago and am still paying the price to repair the damage done. The stylist who i believe was named Nita, used a razor on my dry hair, to layer it. I didnt know at the time that this is a technique is not meant to be used on dry hair, and when is, causes extreme breakage. The razor essentially strips the strands of your hair down into very thin brittle strands. I have no idea why a stylist would use this technique on hair my length, but it severely damaged it. I will attach a picture below of it grown out before its next cut by another stylist. I dont have one from when i left the salon because honestly the amount it was thinned was so upsetting that i didnt think to take a picture. I had assumed i just got more layers than what i was expecting and decided to move on. Upon finding a stylist I trust she explained to me why stylists almost never use that razor, and especially not on my length of hair unless maybe the stylist was intimidated or trying to rush the appointment. Ive been debating whether or not to leave this review but i know how important the health of my hair is to me and if i can save someone who feels this same its worth it. Thank you for reading and good luck to anyone trying to find a stylist they trust, they are out there! EDIT: *Clarification to owner and anyone who may have seen owner’s response, the work shown in the photo is done by NITA, a stylist at cutloose. Granted like i stated it is a bit grown out, but still shows the levels to which it was damaged and thinned. The picture is BEFORE ANYONE ELSE BESIDES CUTLOOSE TOUCHED MY HAIR.*

It was the first time I cut my hair in 7 years… This is a before and after pic. Kennedi really knew how to style my hair. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and as someone who has cut their bangs on their own for the last 7 years, she was able to work around it and cut it in a way that I wanted it to look while still preserving a good amount of length to my hair! Kennedi was very nice and detail-oriented. I’m an autistic individual and she was very accommodating of my needs (sensory issues). She explained to me what she was doing each step and kept informed throughout the whole process. I’m in love with my haircut! I will definitely be going back to her in the future.

I went to cutloose for a cut and partial highlights mid March with Bryan. I’ve been a customer there for 2 years. I’ve never had issues or complaints with any of my haircuts or color treatments in all the salons I’ve been to in the 4 states I’ve lived in the last 12 years. I’m not a complainer. Except this time my expectations were not met. I left the salon loving the haircut per usual. I wasn’t sure about the color just yet. It seemed dark to me but I thought I’d see what I felt at home. First thing my husband and later my friends said when they saw me was “oh you went darker?” It looked darker than my natural color. Definitely was not partial highlights. Reciept said balayage. I emailed the salon told them my expectations were for lightening not to darken. I was told to give it a few weeks with some washes it will lighten up and also lighten up with the next treatment. I gave it two weeks still not happy with it. I emailed again was told I could come in for a hair consult and a shampoo treatment. That’s it. I called and spoke with the receptionist and they said I’d have to book a separate appointment that would cost for a color correction. I asked to speak to a manager she said the manager would call me back. Few days later one of the managers Stephanie EMAILED me a one sided email. Saying I did not want to come in for the hair consult and there’s nothing we can do. My time is just as important as yours, I’m a busy mom with a 1 1/2 year old at home and was in the process of going through drs appointments and tests to find out what’s wrong with my health. I am not going to come in unless I knew that something was going to be fixed not just to take a look and shampoo it. I responded to the email I was told I would be getting a phone call back not an email. No response. I reached out to BBB. In that time a few weeks later I got news that had cancer and needed to start a clinical trial in one week. Around that time the front desk manager Sahar called in response to the BBB complaint and she asked me to come in, again not saying anything will be corrected, “to take a look, you have to understand our stylist take pride and take time with their work” seems like this time your stylist has a little too much pride. I definitely didn’t have time or the emotional bandwidth to put up with this nonsense at this horrific time in my life. I told her what had happened and that I can’t come in for a hair consult, she didn’t care, nor did her manager Stephanie.

Clearly they saw me as just a dollar sign/number walking through the door that will be replaced by another 5 or more people because this is Houston and it’s busy. I paid over $500 for my hair treatment with a good tip. I appreciate people and their time taken. Just not sure why I was not appreciated or respected as a customer. I’m glad other customers have found their salon, I would recommend them to people said that if we were to ever move I’d miss it. I told some people about what happened and they said they’ve never heard of a salon not wanting to fix a color a client wasn’t happy with. And they will respond to this review with one way remarks putting it back on me saying they did everything possible to remedy the situation but I did not come in to see what they could do. They never said that they would help fix the color with no...

I don't like to give bad reviews because I understand that people need to make/earn a living but I can't overlook this one. I went in for a haircut and asked if I could get a balayage/highlights done and they said yes. After my cut, I was passed on to the hair color stylist and all of them raved and raved about the years of experience she had and that she would do an amazing job. So, when I got to her chair, she cut my hair again and thinned it out because she said I had too much hair... When she started coloring my hair, other stylists came to see what she was doing to observe/learn. After my hair color was washed out, I looked like a redhead and I did not like it but I thought that maybe after it dried it would look better...WRONG... she asked me if I wanted it straightened or curly, I said curly because I had been there a while and wanted to go home... so she put curling cream and was trying to dry it but then she changed her mind and tried to straightened it and put straightened cream in my hair... my hair was a complete mess and as I walked to the register, other hair stylists would look at me and look down... She also told me that after a couple of washes I would see a better hair color...wow... For this experience I paid $440 and she still had the nerve to offer me more products to buy... When I arrived, pictures were taken but none were taken afterwards...I wonder why? I take responsibility for not saying anything at the moment but I would never recommend or come back to this place. I came here because so many of my friends recommended it and their hair looked cool but that was not the case for me. Not looking for a refund or favors, just be careful when looking for a salon, just because it looks "cool" or is in a trendy part of town doesn't make it good and doesn't mean customers will be taken care of... and I'm still growing out my hair to get the color... I’ve been sitting on the decision of whether or not to give this review for two years because that’s how long it has taken me to get me to grow out my hair for it to be even and healthy again... being under “new” management sounds nice but seeing that their creative director is the culprit for all of this... it doesn’t make a difference... is this a way of trying to paint over a...
