I previously gave this salon 5 stars, but unfortunately, my most recent visit was a complete disappointment and I’m writing this in hopes that it helps someone avoid the same experience.
I had a 9:30 AM appointment for Gel X and arrived early at 9:20. Despite that, a tech didn’t sit down to start my nails until 10:18. I asked for short nails, but he brought out the longest tips I’ve ever seen. I voiced concern, but he insisted he could file them down. Each time I asked for shorter, he barely adjusted them, eventually I gave in, which I now regret.
As he began applying the gel, I noticed it was extremely thick and pooling over my cuticles and the sides of my nails. I assumed it would be filed off later, but when we started curing them, the pain was intense. I’ve been getting Gel X and builder gel for over two years and I’ve never felt anything like this. It burned so badly I had to pull my hand out of the lamp.
Even after he painted my nails, I could still feel tingling, and my nails looked off, but I had to leave for another appointment and couldn’t stay longer. I ended up coming back later that day because the underside of my nails were so thick that the extensions were sticking up and separating from my natural nails. Gel had cured UNDER my natural nails and over my skin, creating a “lip” that you could fit another nail under. They barley filed underneath, and told me it was supposed to look like that and questioned if I have ever done Gel C before…
When I asked for some filing to clean up the gel that had cured over my cuticles, I was told they couldn’t do that because it would cause the nails to fall off. At that point, I just left, again, and even tipped the second tech because I didn’t want to be rude on a busy Saturday.
Two days later, the pain hadn’t gone away. The gel had cured to my skin, so as my nails grew out, it was pulling on my cuticles and causing tenderness. I tried calling the salon to get them removed but their phone line wasn’t even connected! I gave up and paid a second salon to remove them safely.
In total, I paid for a full set, tipped two techs, and paid for removal elsewhere, just to fix a painful, poorly done job. Really disappointing, especially from a place I used...
Read moreUgh, this is tough to write because most of my experiences here have been good—stellar, no but good, yes. It had been a few months since my last pedicure (typical of me) when I finally visited yesterday. In between pedicures I usually do my own maintenance of sorts, but I admittedly walk around barefoot too (tough on feet, I know). This is the first time I’ve ever felt like I was being talked about among the technicians, and it was incredibly embarrassing. My tech even made me feel like I wore her arms out working on my feet. She rushed through the massage and the actual polishing of my toenails and seemed grateful to be done with me and moving on to the next person. Surprisingly, the application of polish was pretty clean (yes, as someone with OCD tendencies, I always check), but a day later, today, my right big toe is getting an infection and oozing puss. Though I was a little frustrated after yesterday’s experience and willing to give them another try (because, hey, every business/person) has bad days, this is where I draw the line. I’ve had many pedicures over the years, and this is the first time I’ve contracted an infection from one. Lastly, the cherry on top: I was very rudely asked if I wanted my eyebrows waxed (did they need it, yes… did I care, no). When I said “sure,” she rushed me back after my service, spent a total of a rushed five minutes during which she asked about my lips too, then hurried me out the door. Sadly,...
Read moreDO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE! I went here last Friday on my way out of the city. I planned to get a fresh set and a pedicure. The photos I have provided are of both services. As you can see my big toes have been cut at an ungodly angle, causing major pain every step I have taken since I left. As you can see dead skin was left behind making the issue worse. It seems here they are quick to give you alcohol, give you an “itemized” price and send you on your way. This is one of those places that charge for “shaping” even though any nail you get must be shaped. They charged for nail removal yet left old acrylic behind and the cuticles a mess. When I asked the nail tech if she had any suggestions she seemed more annoyed than she did when she sat down with me.
As a grown women, who works and pays for her own services I know MANY can relate when I say if the product is no good; meaning the nail polish is old, the acrylic lifts, rude nail techs, out dated techniques, (now I got two jacked up big toes) I might as well not even go. These are the things we look for when looking for a good nail salon. And let me tell you, you’re better off at your local shop. Where prices are reasonably set, service is good, suggestions are made, quality work is produced, and they are happy to see you. Not just ready to size you up and take your money for boo...
