i went here for daycare and pre-k from around 2012-2015 the only fond memories that i remember are when i was in pre-k 2 (2015). i remember during the Mother’s Day tea party, i saw everyone else’s mom come but i thought my mom was not going to come, but little did i know they were all just really early. i still cried though but it wasn’t a loud tantrum, it was just a silent cry. fortunately though, my mom showed up and everything was normal. after the party, i didnt want my mom to leave and so i cried (honestly, im pretty sure i just didn’t want to be with those teachers, since i remember they were really mean to me) but the teacher screamed at me and made me stand by myself to “think about my actions”. after that, during nap time, i heard the two teachers speaking about how they should have a “talent show” for us and make me cry while i held a baby because im a “crybaby”. another memory i have is before we went outside, the teachers made us wash our hands. after we did so, one of us forgot to turn off the faucet so the teachers called all the girls in to do some kind of interrogation. during this, i knew i didn’t forget to turn off the faucet since i was not the last one to wash my hands, but the teacher blamed me of it and threatened that if i did not tell the truth, i would not be able to go to the soccer class that my mom enrolled me in. but since i was like 4 years old, i told the teacher that it was definitely one of the other girls. somehow the teacher was mad at ME and gave me a teddy bear which they called the “taddle teddy” because i told the truth but they called it “taddling”. they made me sit out of recess but not the girl who forgot to turn it off? so your teaching little kids to not tell the truth and if you do you will get punished for it? ugh. the teachers at that school would force me to finish my lunch when i was full, they would make me say bad words to entertain them, and they would be nicer to the white boys and girls (im not pulling the race card, im simply telling the truth) i remember looking forward to days where one teacher was only there, because i noticed that they got nicer. before pre-k 2 i have memories of the other kids in my class who told me that the pre-k 2 teachers were mean, since they had heard stories from their older siblings. its not just pre-k though. there was a time where i went to another daycare class for the first but i at that age (2-3 years old) i was really shy and scared. i didn’t want to go inside, so the teacher thought it was a good idea to carry me inside as if you were carrying books around a school hallway. but anyways, the teacher of pre-k 2 mrs rosemary (or mary) has retired already but im not sure about the other teacher (she was young, had black hair and tattoos). these memories make me angry to this day, because why would these grown adults spread so much hatred to little kids that were 10x younger then them? and before you say “you were too young to be able to remember those things”, i believe that when little kids go through things that are traumatic to them, they stick for the rest of their lives, and that’s exactly what happened. even years after leaving that school, i kept telling those stories all throughout elementary school and middle...

I gave a conference on orchids to the Federation of Houston Garden Clubs, Nov. 13 Pandemic seating. Makeshift acoustics for about 35 attendees. There were hundreds of flower and plant entries for judging, and the artistry was of the best! The Houston Orchid Society also meets there (although not since...
