In past reviews I have been hesitant to give praise to any Game Over location. My past experiences generally left a bad taste in my mouth. From a selection standpoint GOV has always been a strong contender, but their pricing really turned me off and I eventually turned to other stores for my collecting needs.
But somewhere in the last 6 months this store became a shining example of how awesome GOVs can be when managed properly and I believe a lot of it has to do with a relatively new manager there, Michael. My last three visits to this particular GOV have been exemplary thanks to Michael. He is friendly, courteous, helpful, knowledgeable, and generally a fun guy to talk to. On top of that he goes the extra mile to be fair and honest on pricing this store's stock and striking good deals on trade ins. He is also a very hard worker, having witnessed him handle lunch time rushes single-handedly with relative ease several times.
When my go-to store in the Houston area for the last 3 years, Game Bros, started missing the mark repeatedly I begrudgingly decided to give this location another shot. I am so glad I did. It is fast becoming my new favorite and I give Michael 99% of the credit for this. Take note, GOV. This is the kind of guy you want managing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't help but respect these guys, you know? It's almost like they can do no wrong. Yes, sometimes their price has me scratching my head, and while their average price for a video game is $10 and not $5 like I had suggested (you can find a lot of retro games at nearby stores for $5), they are just such classy guys. 9/10ths of their employees are soooo eager to help you and they will interact with you rather than just being people at a cash register. They have video games you can play inside the store and can test your system out. They have a 2 week return option if something is not working and they honor that beyond their own need. I had a broken xbox I bought but due to my paramedic clinicals I only got to play it about 3 weeks after I bought it. No problem! They understood and returned it. Same thing happened with one disc that was messed up. I wouldn't advocate waiting 3 weeks because that takes advantage of them, but there were absolutely no qualms in switching it out for a working xbox. These guys rock. Best customer service in town and all around just genuinely nice people who purely enjoy video games. 5/5. Definitely check...

Recently went there (early June 2023) when the stored open in the morning, when I walked in the fist question I was asked is "Why do you have your phone out? Are you recording?" Well, 'Welcome In' and 'Good morning' to you too sir. Where are your manners? I was just texting my friend to see if he was hunting for any video games for his collection.
The same employee who asked me the question continued to stare at me the whole time as if I was up to no good. He made me feel so uneasy and as if I was not welcome there. I wanted a copy of a video game but decided to walkaway since I did not wanna deal with that employees attitude and bad energy. I just decided to get away from that rude employee.
I'm not sure if that employee was having a bad day, or if hes normally like this, but I hope all is well with him! I will not be returning to...
