Adair Kitchen — Restaurant in Houston

I generally don’t give a restaurant a 5 star review, but in all fairness, I really cannot think what they could have done better tonight. After visiting the nearby grocery store, and knowing that I had two hungry people at home, I walked over to Adairs. What a pleasant surprise, it is a Monday night only a few guests dining. I was greeted by someone that I guessed was a server. He was friendly and welcoming, I indicated that I wanted to place a to-go order and he instructed me to go to the bar. Once there the bartender was also friendly, I placed two kids meals, 1 order of Chicken tenders and 1 Cheeseburger, both came with a choice of sides and a drink. I thought the wait was reasonable and while I waited he offered me something to drink. The restaurant is open and inviting, I was surprised there were not more tables inside. They also have a upstairs area. The food arrived and he helped locate a drink carrier. When I got home, I unpacked the bag, both items looked appealing and smelled good. I was very surprised how many fries were provided with each order. The kids said their food was delicious. The bag was packed very well and condiments included without me having to ask. When they finished eating, they asked “ if I can I go pick up my food from there again. I doubt you’ll find another place that offers a tasty kids meal for under $6.00, Great job today. Everyone deserves a “good job done accolade.

When we got inside, there weren’t any signs like “please wait to be seated” or “order at the counter.” A few workers passed by us waiting at the front and didn’t say anything. We just so happened to overhear another customer say to the person they were with that we had to order at the counter.

The guy who took our order at the counter was nice, nothing wrong with interacting with any of the workers, it was just that no one went out of their way to be helpful.

When we went to go find a place to sit, but all of the available spots were dirty—food on the floor and wet tabletops with stuff on them. We heard singing coming from the kitchen, so I guess everyone was pretty distracted with it being someone’s birthday. They wiped down our table only after we sat down, leaving the food on the floor.

The food came pretty quick, and I was excited ‘cause the fries looked good, but when I bit into my sandwich, there was something super hard in there and I couldn’t think of what it must be. Turns out, my avocado came with pieces of the center. That on top of everything else was a real turn off.

My mom’s drink was served very low, and even though she understood why that must be (it was pretty strong), we still had to go find someone to bring it to her because they’d taken our number card and seemed to have forgotten her drink.

The girl at the front was very nice, polite and took our orders down right, 4 bacon, egg and cheese breakfast tacos with avocado.

They brought out egg tacos with avocado 🥑, no bacon and no cheese. My mom.is diabetic and had to eat something so I tried to eat it as well and couldn't. We didnt get what we paid for, and when the girl alerted the kitchen of their error, they just sent out 2 strips of bacon and thats not right either

Frustrated, I asked the lady sitting at a laptop next to me if she was the manager. She said yes and I told her the refire was unacceptable and they need to make it properly. This is making the visit take much longer, having the order made 3 times and the last time they didnt have much avocado on them but we didnt say anything else. She gave my mom a muffin on the house and voice our bill, the least she could do since resolution took so long. Should have given us a gift certificate to give them another chance maybe for dinner because the menu looks good. If management reaches out to resolve with gift card I will update this review.
