Hanover Autry Park gave me one of the most unprofessional, dismissive, and dishonest touring experiences I’ve ever had in 12 years in property management.
Hanover Autry Park was one of the most unprofessional and dismissive experiences I have ever had while touring a property. I came in excited to see this new luxury high-rise, especially since Hanover has a reputation for professionalism and customer service. Unfortunately, what I experienced was the exact opposite.
When I walked in, I was immediately impressed by the beautiful entry doors and lobby. However, two employees standing there looked directly at me but did not greet me. No “hello,” no acknowledgment. I had to approach the desk myself and ask about a one-bedroom apartment. The man began to check, but then the woman stepped in, nudged him, and said they had tours booked back-to-back for the rest of the day and could not show me. I explained that I was ready to make a decision that day, that I had been highly recommended, and that I was touring Hanover properties specifically. Still, they dismissed me and let me walk out the door without any effort to accommodate me.
Feeling brushed off, I checked the Hanover Autry Park website on my way to another property. To my surprise, there were multiple available time slots for tours that same day. I booked one immediately and received a confirmation email at 3:30 PM. I took a screenshot as proof.
An hour later, I returned and showed the same employee the confirmation. He claimed nothing was showing in their system and suggested maybe I booked at a different Hanover location. I pulled up the Hanover Autry Park website on my phone and showed him directly. Even with the proof in hand, I was told no one was available to tour me. This was now the second time I was turned away, first with the excuse of “no availability” and then with denial despite an actual booked appointment.
To say I was shocked and disgusted is an understatement. The office was not busy, there were staff present, and yet they blatantly refused to help me. From my perspective, I was judged based on appearance (dressed casually in sweats and a T-shirt), assumed to be a waste of time, and lied to about availability. As someone who has worked in property management for 12 years and started as a leasing agent, I know the difference between being truly overbooked and simply not wanting to tour someone. This felt like blatant discrimination and laziness.
And to put the cherry on top, after I complained, Hanover Autry Park suddenly became “interested” in me. I received a call from someone saying, “Hi, you were the one who wasn’t showing up in our system, right?” I said yes, and she asked if I was still interested. I told her no, I was extremely disappointed in the horrible customer service I received. Her response? “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. OK, bye.” Even when given the chance to recover on a recorded line, there was no genuine apology, no effort to make things right, and no professionalism, just a dismissive hang-up.
This is a brand-new luxury high-rise where first impressions should matter most. Instead, the employees at Hanover Autry Park dismissed me twice, lied about availability, and then half-heartedly tried to cover themselves only after realizing their mistake. Hanover should be ashamed that this is the impression their staff is leaving on prospects. If this is the level of customer service provided before move-in, I can only imagine how residents are treated once...
