We came to see the Christmas Village at Bayou Bend. We came at 9 o'clock. The advertisement said January 1st was the end date so we came tonight to see the lights in the gardens. We were stopped by a Houston PD officer. She asked us a lot of personal questions. And she insulted us. She told us that we were not allowed to go in because they were closed at 9 o'clock. So I showed her the advertisement postcard. It says they're open till 10. She said I don't know but you look a little old to just now be getting your doctorate don't you? Remember she was asking both my son and I a lot of personal questions. I told her I just wanted to get photos of the lighted bridge. I did get them. Well, I know one thing. I don't like police asking personal questions and it put me off. While I answered them, I wish I never would have. She was very rude. And it makes me think, does MFAH size up and down the people who come to this place, so if they don't like you, they turn you away? I do not think I will be back. Oh, by the way, she also mentioned that she was a Trump supporter. Who cares? I just wanted to see the lights.
So...we did come back. I'm glad. It is beautiful and the people are so nice and inviting. Except Mrs. Robocop who fortunately had the night off. Even one of the staff said she put her off also. Why does that cop work there? She needs a course in etiquette and...

Enjoyed exploring the house and the bridge to get to the place was super fun. Staff was either exceptionally nice or just unenthusiastic/irritable.
There is a small trail to an overlook but it is mostly blocked by trees....which is okay....but then the only thing visible is a golf course, which kind of ruins the sanctuary part of it.
There is another random path...i think....it has signs but just passes behind some houses and is not well kept and stops suddenly. Will try going back...
Read moreUnique park Hidden away at 1 Westcott. It's a great place to meet up with friends since it's the dead end of a major road. The park has a listening area for wildlife at the south end, which although different, doesn't do a lot for me. The bridge over to the gardens is pretty neat. If you're in the area, it's a good place to stop off and look around. The home is set up as a museum with a large garden. I think the whole property is about 14 acres. Today, it was $10 a head. The staff I met were not particularly friendly, yelling not to linger in the bridge for a photo. I opted not to take the tour...
