We came to see the Christmas Village at Bayou Bend. We came at 9 o'clock. The advertisement said January 1st was the end date so we came tonight to see the lights in the gardens. We were stopped by a Houston PD officer. She asked us a lot of personal questions. And she insulted us. She told us that we were not allowed to go in because they were closed at 9 o'clock. So I showed her the advertisement postcard. It says they're open till 10. She said I don't know but you look a little old to just now be getting your doctorate don't you? Remember she was asking both my son and I a lot of personal questions. I told her I just wanted to get photos of the lighted bridge. I did get them. Well, I know one thing. I don't like police asking personal questions and it put me off. While I answered them, I wish I never would have. She was very rude. And it makes me think, does MFAH size up and down the people who come to this place, so if they don't like you, they turn you away? I do not think I will be back. Oh, by the way, she also mentioned that she was a Trump supporter. Who cares? I just wanted to see the lights.

So...we did come back. I'm glad. It is beautiful and the people are so nice and inviting. Except Mrs. Robocop who fortunately had the night off. Even one of the staff said she put her off also. Why does that cop work there? She needs a course in etiquette and...

Probably not the best time to go in the fall but was still very peaceful. Love water features and some were not on but the grounds were still beautiful and well kept. Enjoyed exploring the house and the bridge to get to the place was super fun. Staff was either exceptionally nice or just unenthusiastic/irritable.

There is a small trail to an overlook but it is mostly blocked by trees....which is okay....but then the only thing visible is a golf course, which kind of ruins the sanctuary part of it.

There is another random path...i think....it has signs but just passes behind some houses and is not well kept and stops suddenly. Will try going back...

Unique park Hidden away at 1 Westcott. It's a great place to meet up with friends since it's the dead end of a major road. The park has a listening area for wildlife at the south end, which although different, doesn't do a lot for me. The bridge over to the gardens is pretty neat. If you're in the area, it's a good place to stop off and look around. The home is set up as a museum with a large garden. I think the whole property is about 14 acres. Today, it was $10 a head. The staff I met were not particularly friendly, yelling not to linger in the bridge for a photo. I opted not to take the tour...

First time here since a long time ago. I enjoyed the gardens. They are peaceful, and a stream of water runs through it. One can hear the birds singing. The beautiful magnolia trees are bloom huge flowers. Their delicate perfume permeates the air. The ticket includes the gardens and the Ima Hogg house, which is beautiful. All the furnishings are original. Imagine Hogg donate this property to the Museum of Fine Arts. If you enjoy art, history, and the outside, this is for you. In addition, they offer various activities on the garden. Check their website for future events. I will come back.

This bird sanctuary is right beside the Bayou Bend Gardens. Please note that the sanctuary itself is not part of the gardens as a lot of photos posted here are of the gardens and not the sanctuary. If you expect nicely, manicured gardens you’ll come away disappointed. Entry is free. It’s a short 600ft walk from the parking area via a paved track to a point in the middle of trees and bushes. If you stay quiet and look up, you might spot some bird species you may have never seen before.
