This is a review of the experience I had with Marriott Houston Airport at GB Intercontinental (IAH). Situated right in the heart of IAH airport, this Marriott is perhaps one of the best locations you can find if you’re flying in our out of IAH. Parking is plenty in the structure right next to the airport next to their ballroom. $29/$35 for self park/valet but price is definitely worthwhile. Takes about 11 minutes to go from your hotel room to terminal D/E via the hotel elevators to S level and the subway tram. The hotel lobby is grand and has a giant screens that has some flight information, as well as an attached restaurant/bar. Feels extremely upscale and they even have CVS vending machines inside the hotel. Rooms are nice and clean, equipped with a refrigerator but no microwave. King bed is extremely comfortable with semi-firm pillows; bathroom has an amazing glass door shower as well as name brand shampoo and body wash instead of the cheap ones lesser hotels tend to offer. Also found out that they offer good late checkout times and day rooms (if available), which is amazing in case you have off-normal flight times and in case your flights are delayed or changed. It is also extremely military friendly! Definitely stay at this branch if you’re active duty on orders passing by IAH. I’d especially like to recommend Toyin and Karleigh, one of the assistant managers, who assisted me during my short stay. They were extremely accommodating, gave clear directions and were very pleasant to deal with. I will absolutely come back to this branch give a chance due to great customer service, amenities and location. Keep up the good work Toyin, Karleigh and Houston Airport Marriott at GB Intercontinental!

If you love listening to vehicle traffic all night, this is the hotel for you. I’m always worried about runway noise at airport hotels, but am shocked by how incessantly busy and NOISY the adjacent street is. Engines, tire noise over what’s bumpy or segmented pavement, and horns all night. This hotel desperately needs better windows for its exterior rooms. (You also cannot run the hvac fan continuously to help drown it out - your options are auto or off) This is substandard for an airport business hotel and I did not see this mentioned in reviews. Tired travelers beware. Another stay at this hotel, with the advanced legwork to call in advance and ensure I am NOT again assigned to rooms that border the street that feeds into the airport AND has the elevated train running right by (there are interior rooms here)… I was put on hold while the room assignment was moved to interior rooms. Wonderful. But after another full, exhausting day of travel, I find out I’m again in another room with traffic noise hell and 3 kids that are too tired to drag to the lobby and move rooms, but will be even worse tomorrow after another crummy night’s sleep. Dropping my rating to 1 star since even when you try to avoid the shortcomings of the hotel, staff still doesn’t help accommodate the request. I wish I could add a recording here to show that the noise really is unreasonable and not just a distant murmur if you’re looking for it. It’s incessant but also punctuated by even louder exhaust cars roaring through. The whole point of an airport hotel is convenience, efficiency, and getting a good night’s sleep. This is a fail.

Communication is an issue here. Checked in last night with a lovely kind front desk staff member. She was amazing. Advised us breakfast was downstairs until 11a. Decided I was wanted to do room service instead and then, seen below, the menu shows it ended at 10a. (This was about 9:50-9:55 so decided not to order room service). Rushed to get ready and run downstairs to have breakfast. I get down there at 1030 and the breakfast attendants say it closed at 1030. Then 2 other attendants came to her back and stated “sorry we closed at 1030.” Then was offered room service because it’s open until 11, what?!?!???!? Your menu says different! So had the menu stated it was available until 11, I could have ordered right away when I woke up and had it prepared while I was getting ready. So they got me on the phone with room service and was advised 45-50 min for scrambled eggs and bacon??? Really?? I have to leave for the airport at 1115 so now that won’t work! Why does no one know what time things operate here? Please update you in room menus as well. The F&B manager saw me on phone and saw how frustrated I was. He personally took it upon himself to go get my food prepared and brought it himself. It took him all of 15 min to walk to the kitchen, get the food prepared, and walked to my room. The beginning of the stay was great with the attendant at the front desk, and ended great with the F&B manager. But I’m between, you really need some help. Small things that can make or break a stay. Food was absolutely delicious and prepared nicely!

When someone decides to stay at a hotel in an airport, it's likely because they just want to sleep while waiting for their next flight. Unfortunately, there were several things that went wrong with my stay at the Houston Airport Marriott at George Bush Intercontinental: The hotel had a room next to the service area that was not insulated for noise, making it impossible to sleep. When I went downstairs to ask for a new room, the front desk staff asked me to go up, get my things, go down again, change the key, and go back to my new room. Given that the rooms are quite far away from the lobby, this was a frustrating inconvenience. I needed to insist on an alternative solution, as the staff did not seem proactive in finding a solution for me. The new keys provided for both rooms did not work, which meant I had to go up, return to the lobby, and get a new key. When I was asked to go up, get my things, and call from the new room, the front desk staff was unavailable to take my call, which meant I had to wait for an additional 10 minutes. It took the front desk staff a total of 40 minutes aprox. to come up and finally change my keys. Overall, I would advise others to avoid this hotel. While it's conveniently located near the airport, the lack of insulation from noise and deficient service made for a frustrating and unpleasant stay.

Standard fare for a Marriott hotel but one thing this place can’t be beat is the location. The rooms are clean but decor slightly dated. Well insulated from outside noise so you can’t hear planes taking off (although you can hear car traffic). Easy access from the airport without having to go outside. The Houston airport has an below ground subway (actually it feels more like a kid’s ride) that shuttles you directly from all the terminals to the hotel. Runs throughout the day except between 12-3am. Alongside the subway is a carpeted walkway that you can use 24/7 to walk from the terminals to the hotel. M Lounge (their version of the executive lounge) is located on the lobby level and open 24 hours with bottled water and snacks. Gym also located on lobby level near the main entrance. Only negative thing is the front desk isn’t very well staffed. Most times when I came down to the lobby there was only 1 person at the desk despite lines of people waiting to check in.
