Kroger — Attraction in Houston

I have lived right behind this location and shopped here since 2015. One of my biggest issues as a shopper is I have always seen profiling in this location heavily towards certain ethnicities. Rarely do I ever see a manager unless they are upstairs. Today, my wife and I were walking to the store to get food for our special needs son since he digresses heavily against food. My wife made it in the store a minute or 2 before me and got her a electric shopping cart cause she was not feeling too well and wanted a water. When I got in, one of the store representatives wearing a red vest, blue button down and glasses just shoved a basket in the walk way, in front of another walking customer and myself. I just grabbed the basket to use and get out of other customers way. I placed my Kroger reusable bags in the seating area of the empty shopping cart and my grocery roller rack at the bottom of the cart. I walked to my wife in electric cart and stated grab herself a water and let’s go to pharmacy to pick up our son’s medicine. We got our baby’s prescription and proceeded to start shopping. Barely in shopping my wife let me know she felt weak and now shaking. I assume it’s her glucose level dropping since diabetic. We headed over to deli to purchase a hot plate. I grabbed a soda and we headed to registers. There was only one register with a light on near self checkout but the belt was full of stuff and person with full basket. I grabbed my wife’s water and soda and walked back to self checkout where I saw an officer there and looking my way which did not bother me cause I was used to mis-profiled sometimes but appeased the look when purchasing everything. However, I no longer condone it and will address it. After purchasing the drinks we went to sit by Starbucks and eat. My wife stated she was very cold and I told her she can stay there or go outside while I do the shopping. Not even 2 mins leaving her to finish our shopping, she called me upset stating the same officer, who saw me purchase drinks, stop her and ask did she pay for the hot food and medication from pharmacy which were in plastic Kroger bags. He then stated a store rep told him she came in with bags which she did not. I came in 2 mins after her with a grocery roller rack from Amazon and 3 reusable bags cause I hate plastic bags. The officer then asked her can he look in the bags which you can visibly see through. This is absolutely ridiculous, racial profiling and utterly distasteful. I will not be shopping at the location from this day forward. Strongly encourage minorities to take money elsewhere. For a person who worked in retail 10+ years this location does not FIFO. Please stop buying their clearance or markdown foods. This location covers dates or sells items expired the year before. I work to hard and paid excellent to even have the nerve to steal. There is nothing in Kroger worth stealing or worth our freedom. Please do not let this company fool you that they are diverse based on their employees. I have also made a complaint with BBB...

I was at the self checkout on 6/4/25 and was scannimg my items but had a question about a digital coupon I had scanned. I told the guy I had scanned it 3 times but needed to know how to find it in the app once it was scanned because I seem to have a hard time finding it or where it goes once it’s scanned. He said if it didn’t come up at the end he’d come back and help me. It was at the store closing and there were still people in line. He was chatting with the security guard and another person and I was trying to get his attention. He finally saw me trying to get his attention and came over. I told him the digital coupon didn’t come up. He said if it didn’t come up then it was from last weeks ad or else it would have came up. I told him it wasn’t from last week and if that was the case then the sign should be down or else honor it. I offered to show him the coupon that was below the item in the store He just looked at me. So then I said again and I still don’t know how to find the digital coupon in the app once it’s scanned - feeling annoyed and frustrated at that point. His reply again was if it didn’t come up it was from last weeks ad followed IMMEDIATELY by… so do you want it or not?? I ignored him due to how I was feeling at this point and placed the item in the bag since I’d already scanned it (with no digital coupon coming up on the screen). He just stood there and said he was just working there to try and make a living is all. I said yeah and I’m also working to make a living too and shaking my head to show I was not happy with his lack of assistance. He nevet offered to show me in the app where to access the digital coupon once it’s scanned as I had requested 2 times. And he He didn’t offer to come back to look at the sign. He just completely blew me off!! I got in the car, I saw other people still walking out. I pulled up the store ad in the app and there was the item on the front page! Since the store was closing I didn’t go back inside. But that was nothing short of not only being disrespectful to me but his total lack of customer service skills. By refusing to look at the coupon I saw beneath the item in the store and refusing to show me how to access the digital coupon in the app once it was scanned did not settle well with me. ANY effort on his part would have been nice!! But he didn’t - he just shrugged me off and gave me a lame excuse. That really hit me the wrong way! He needs to learn how to do his job, learn a lesson in customer service or at least SHOW SOME EFFORT and should be taught what the true meaning of WORK really means. Why I haven't learned to grab a basket on my in idk. I always have to go back out and get one. Today a nice young lady decided to speed up to keep me from crossing in front of her. I smiled and waved all the while screaming the c-word in my internal monologue voice.

Everything seemed moist today. That is everything in paper packaging anyway. This store already feels grubby, dingy, watch where you touchy.

1 container of cashew milk left but it looked like it had been treated like someone's step child.

$5 for a gd bottle of bleach? Really?

No sackers, I did it myself. The b-word cashier did not help. She just tossed my items at me. I stopped bagging to pay and then went back to it. Still no help. She did not even help me put the bags in the basket. Nope I did it myself.

I thank everyone and I thanked her for some reason and it was only after that, that she said anything to me. Maybe she is as frustrated at this place as I was. Who knows?

It will be a very long time before I go back here again. Too many frustrating things there. Plus if I'm gonna pay Randall's pricing I should go to Randall's for the...
