Sunday Brunch Buffet, they sat me at the leather covered table, which was great.. I ate two plates of food, the food was good, but the overall problem was, it was all cold, the eggs, the eggs benedict, the sausages, the bacon, the syrup, cream gravy, it was all a bit less than lukewarm. I grew up in Texas during the 80s, so I have a taste for chicken fried steak (cubed steak, breaded), mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy, with pepper int eh sauce. They only had sausage and bacon, it would be nice if they had also had chicken fried steak, but the I guess its too expensive after all it is called "steak".. But it's as cheap as hamburger, because really it is hamburger..
They had all the presentation down, they got me to my seat quickly too, I was expecting they'd sit me at a bar seat, like I've been done to many times in NYC, as the pictures presented in their materials looked like a nice place, and it was, but they were not really attracting very many people..
I ended up paying $17 and gave a $3 tip, but I maybe after this review, they will be sure to have:
the "cattle herd" acrylic painting on the ceiling re-done (the faces of the herders is featureless), note there is a "wine/paint class" in the nearby mall maybe they'd know someone, it looks like it was painted in the 80s, and is collecting dust.
A microwave oven available to people.
Toaster for the bagels.
Also if you could provide bigger glasses for cokes, this is Texas afterall.. Leavign the straw paper on the end was interesting. But they do that in NYC, not in Texas.
The Smoked Salmon and Capers were plentiful, those are the only things that shouldn't be served hot.. And they were perfect.. I'm wondering why I didn't hange around longer..
I'd probably remove their star badge, but something tells me they might fix this, I didn't see too many pleased faces in the restaurant. But not very many eating joints on westheimer that I can...
Read moreBase steak plate is $30 for a 6 oz steak. For $4 more you can get a skewer w/ 3 med. bacon wrapped shrimp added. I had mash potatoes as a side - adding a vegtable or 2nd side is an up-charge. A 6 oz steak is not big. I think it worked out to $2.50 per bite - steak was well cooked but not worth that. They put some kind of butter on the steak - faintly chocolatey - I recommend getting it off the steak as fast as possible before it melts. The shrimp didn't taste like shrimp, and didn't taste like bacon - I wasn't impressed. You're much better off going down the street to Fogo De Chao. They have all you can eat meat - the waiters bring around skewers of the stuff, you flip your card over, and they will carve you a piece - Top sirloin, Bottom sirloin, Filet Mignon, etc. and it includes a big salad bar. Fogo it probably a couple of dollars more, but definitely worth it. I won't be back...
Read moreI have been calling and calling this restaurant for several days, all at different times of the day (while they were open), and no one answers their phone. I've also emailed the email address they have on their website to see if someone would answer my questions via email and that doesn't seem to be working, either. We used to LOVE coming here for Easter brunch every year. I know during Covid, they stopped offering their brunch. They still have a brunch menu on their website for Sunday brunch, but when you click on the Brunch Menu at the top, you get a pop-up that states they are no longer serving brunch, but instead, have a new breakfast menu. I was really hoping to return for their beautiful Easter brunch this year, but it seems they aren't taking phone calls. This is very disappointing as they usually have excellent service! Rio Ranch - please update your website or...
