Hello reader, I feel an obligation to inform you of the experience you’ll encounter once you walk up to the dealership doors.
Thankfully you’re greeted with a smiling face but the sensation of thrill and excitement in buying your first new car is completely crumbled when you get to your salesperson desk. For the sake of a slander lawsuit I won’t include the names of the individuals assisting me but just know DISHONESTY is the name of their games.
The vehicle price was discounted $3500, which was awesome! However, where you start to lose hope is when talking pricing with your salesperson. The pricing breakdown reflected a dealer addendum which is standard across the board. What isn’t standard is the fact that the sticker on the car itself had an addendum of only $2,495 rather than the pricing breakdown on paper that reveals the price as $3,500. After the haggle on that number the salesperson offered it as $2,995 - $500 more than the sticker addendum. Why am I being taken advantage of?
After upsetting my step father we drove away from the lot, in rush hour traffic back towards sugar land only for us to get a passive aggressive text from my salesperson: “Thanks for stopping by with your father! Let him know that the credit score came back as 475. Every dealership has a dealer package. Let us know how it goes! We are here to make a deal” which was false on 2 accounts. The way incorrect credit score and the willing to make a deal. After we get to another Chevy dealer we get a call from the sales manager. Queue the dealership games! The sales manager was able to persuade my stepfather to come back to the lot to work a deal. This back and forth lasted all the way through the buying process, even as we were about to sign for the final numbers which had the initial dealer addendum added back on and at $150 more. That’s right, they were going to charge me a total of $3,650 for the addendum.
They had me fill out an after purchase survey (before signing anything) which asked “if the team walked you thru the features of your car” - they did not. Also, how likely I would be to suggest Team Gillman Chevy. - had the salespersons (plural) lead with honesty and kindness I would have had nothing but positive things to say. Instead I’m left with a bitter taste and a negative feeling towards my new vehicle when I should be enjoying it. Reader, thank you for your time and I’m optimistic your experience will be better than mine, well,...
Read moreMy sales man Olie was fantastic. I'm really glad that he didn't try to pressure me into buying what I couldn’t buy. He listened to me and I appreciated that.
Anna the Finance Rep was awesome. She took her time and treated me like a person and was honest and compassionate. She answered all of my questions although I asked the same things more than once.
Pat the Sales Manager was great too. I really appreciate his flexibility. He tried to find me the color that I wanted while I went back to work. I called him from work and he told me that other dealerships had the make, model and color but the other dealerships werent cooperative with him. I then decided that the color of the truck was actually really nice and that I should give it consideration. So I went back to the dealership to buy the truck. There was one moment when Pat tried to lowball me on my trade amount after Olie and I had talked about it. I had already received a trade amount from a different dealership and Olie was trying to beat it. Pat made a comment about a light being lit on my dash when I knew that I didn't have any warning lights lit when I got there. That really pissed me off! I had taken the breath to say "Give me my keys I'm out the door!" He saw how mad I got about the comment and backed off. He changed the focus to my line of work and saw that the company I work for has an affinity with General Motors and that helped. I know that he was just doing his job but he nearly lost me. During my meeting with Anna, Pat stopped in the check on me. Pat and I are cool but I had to give him the side eye 😠. Dont mess around with a mortician!!!💀💀💀.
However, the true star of the entire experience was Jennifer the Online Representative 💫. When I inquired on line that I was shopping for a truck I immediately started receiving texts and phone calls like crazy. I felt they were too pushy and aggressive, however, Jennifer was the ONLY ONE that was calm and relaxed. The sound and cadence of her voice slowed me down. That calmness made me calm during a really stressful time. She actually listened to my situation and my needs. She sent me some options that were exactly what I wanted and she let me breathe when I felt that I couldn't. If it weren't for her I would have never went in to the dealership at all
Thank you Jennifer, Olie, Pat and Anna. I will see you when I'm ready to buy a car for my wife when she's ready and for my kids when they...
Read moreI was here from 11 AM to 5:30 PM trying to trade in my car for a new one. By the end I was tired, hungry (I only at a small breakfast before coming), had a dead phone battery, and just wanted to cry and go home. The car i came out with is fine, just overpriced. Never shopping at a big dealership again. Firstly, I had an appointment to discuss the trade in and the person who I had an appointment with was thirty minutes late (allegedly. I never actually saw her til a more than an hour after 11). Second, none of the cars I had picked out to see were actually at that location. So the website listing avaliable cars was very misleading. Eventually I settled on a car that was way out of the original price range I had stated, was told the price couldn't budge at all, then when I said no to the car 2 grand could magically be removed from the price and i was too exhausted to lower it more eventhough, looking back, i most certainly could have. I get this is how dealerships work, but I had already been there for 4.5 hours by the time. Thirdly, apparently the person i had a meeting with was very busy so I had to wait a very long time between talking to who I assume was a sales associate to getting any info back. There was some time wasted when I didn't realized that I didn't have the actual title to my trade in, just a copy for the application for a title, but again my time had already been wasted at that point as I had been there for 4.5 hours. Fourth, I had never made a big purchase like this before so I didn't know exactly how to do it. I didn't think this would be a problem as I'm sure I wasn't the first person they have had not knowing how to give them my money, but no. The money was in my savings, so I suggested a wire transfer. The finance person instead insisted that I wait on hold with my checking account's bank to ask them if they would make a one-time increase to my purchase maximum, eventhough the full amount wasn't even there at the moment. So I waited for thirty minutes on the line for them to tell me that it isn't an option, then finance allowed me to make a wire transfer. When i got to financing and told them I was starving, they said "oh you didn't get the person you had the appointment with to get you food?". How am I supposed to demand food from a person I...
