Romana Hotel — Hotel in Houston

Very bad infestation of roaches 👎 so have an expectation that they will be everywhere. Carpets are filthy, outdated fixtures/furniture, soiled/stained linen, broken closets, and this place is poorly managed. No wash clothes were in my room. I asked the clerk for towels for us to take a shower and was told that I would have to talk to the house keeper in the morning. They have signs up at the elevator and at the front desk saying not to ask for towels.... However, I could understand this if I was asking for extra linen. That was not the case... I also asked for a single light bulb; there wasn't a single bulb in the room and the one that was in the lamp was blowed. Went to ask the clerk for a light bulb and was told "I'm not going to piece the room together, I can move you to another room". Just a nasty attitude l around. We booked the room for 4 days and had carried a lot of luggage up, including several boxes of equipment, and after driving 12 hours, we just wanted to shower and go to bed. So, besides the light from the TV and bathroom, we are in the dark and without a towel to take a shower; this was already going downhill. I get it, it's not the clerks fault... however, don't talk to people like they are a POS... and keep a few extra towels just in case the housekeeper forgets.This is ridiculous and I am in disbelief that no towels are in my room. I toured each floor and the carpeting is filthy and at the elevator entrance on each floor, they have large trash bins that are overflowing. Smh...Dated shower heads and blow dryers. If you are expecting an iron to be in your room; you can forget that one too. Caked up dirt on the ceiling fans... just way to much to even continue. Not to mention, a roach was on me while I was in bed. This is ridiculous and This place is in very, very, bad condition. 👎 BTY.... I filed a complaint with the Attorney General and IF I GET 1 FRAUDULENT CHARGE ON MY CARD... I am...

STAY AWAY. I have been here not even 3 hours and this is what has happened:

-called ahead and was told I would receive a $10 discount for my commercial drivers license...when I got here I was refused the discount.

-first room we were given the DOOR DID NOT EVEN SHUT, there were no towels, the balcony door lock did not work, and the cable was not working.

-second room we were given the door frame literally shifted to the touch, there were no towels, and again NO CABLE.

-called the concierge up to give us towels and again show him the door and I told him about the cable and his response was: "oh sorry there are not many channels." Actually, there are zero channels because it DOES NOT WORK.

-stayed in this room for an hour until we finally realized that the AC barely works. It is well over 80 degrees in our room RIGHT NOW.

-decided that I was going to get my money back and switch hotels.

-headed down and was refused a refund because I paid cash for only one night and the policy is NO REFUNDS AFTER 10 MINUTES. At that point it had been almost 2 hours.

-went back and forth with the guy (brown hair Asian man with an accent, probably 40s) and finally asked to speak to his manager.

-CONCIERGE REFUSED TO LET ME SPEAK TO HIS MANAGER (and yet, his response to my problems was: "it's not my hotel, I just work here.").

-so now we are in the third room and everything is exactly the same.

-I finally just asked for a discount and was refused even that by the concierge.

-IN SHORT: I WAS CONNED INTO THIS HOTEL BY THE ASSUMED DISCOUNT, THEN CHARGED FULL PRICE FOR A ROOM WITH A BROKEN AC AND NO CABLE, THEN REFUSED A REFUND, THEN REFUSED MY RIGHT TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER, AND THEN REFUSED A DISCOUNT AT THE VERY LEAST.

So I am stuck here for the night. Please do not make the same mistake I did. DO NOT STAY AT THE ROMANA HOTEL AT 6885 SOUTHWEST FWY IN...

Very DISGUSTING and DISTURBING place to stay. Check-in staff was rude and the entire hotel from the check-in lobby to the elevator to the room was grotesque. The elevator seemingly didn't want to work, there was a puddle of something (looked like urine) on the floor as you walked through the lobby doors and the smell coming from the hallway corridors to the room was sickening. The room itself looked like something out of a horror film with holes in the wall, bed itself had what looked like cigarette burns in the sheeting, and every mirror in the room was cracked and broken. The bathroom was disgusting with what looked to be bugs in the tub and even the furniture in the room, which was one chair and table was broken. The small balcony patio door was broken and had a makeshift latch holding it shut which is not good for any kind of security, and there was heaps of trash and rubble from furniture and other things thrown all over the hotel grounds as far as your eyes could see. The main door to the bedroom had a broken security lock as well. The whole experience was subpar and highly disgusting. The final straw was the extra charge they presented us with upon check-in. I normally never stay at hotels like this, but we were in a hurry to get one and this was unfortunately it for the one night. Never again!..... I'll gladly pay more for a luxury hotel or something remotely better than this place was! To me I believe this place to be health hazard. Please beware staying there.... Glad we left...
