I’ve never written a review for a church before (frankly they all would’ve been terrible), but The Story has been the outlier in a sea of overly legalistic or “do whatever you want” type churches. I found the Story about a year after my ultimate rock bottom. I googled “church for people who don’t like church” and came across an article done by the Houston Chronicle on pastor Eric about his journey from a hyper-conservative upbringing to an atheistic liberal young adult lifestyle and all the questions, cynicism and skepticism that led him to discover his faith and plant the Story Church. Raised Baptist, I wasn’t allowed to ask questions but here, he tackles the questions that mean something to real people. From the moment I walked in January 2020, they absorbed me into their community and reached out even when I didn’t feel like being reached out to. I grew up in a vacuum with no community and continued most of my life in that same manner. Until coming here. Now I have a community of people who care about me and check in on me. It’s surreal. I finally feel the love of God in a church for the...
Read moreI write this review with confusion, disappointment, and sadness in my heart I've been going to The Story for the past couple of months now and everyone there is awesome! friendly people, staff and great pastors at both campuses and extremely welcoming, so why does it get 2 stars? Well recently it has come to my attention that a fellow The Story go'er has run into financial and life difficulties and as a religious person myself if a Church says they love you and care about you they're more than likely willing to help right? of course not straight out of pocket but at least point you in the right direction of different recourses right?? Especially somewhere where its all about bringing heavy questions to the table and showing you that God definitely is real?? Well not exactly, after multiple attempts of reaching out to staff etc, how much they actually don't care is quite apparent, with robotic reply's and little to no empathy, it's only super nice when they get help, my hope is that they actually learn from this, treat you're...
Read moreParking. After searching I found a video that Pastor Huffman posted about parking. I’m putting a review here, so hopefully others who are looking for parking information can find it quicker.
The parking is in a 10 story parking garage on the the same block. The entrance is off Bartlett. It says Prosperity Bank parking garage. Looks like it will be super easy to find.
I intend to visit there tomorrow for my first time. I discovered, (God Spirit lead) Eric Huffman, his wife and staff by listening to podcasts. “Then God Moved” Adria Polite. I’ve just started delving into all the podcast that they have created and made available to the public. So much information! So much spiritual food! This is an hour away from where I live. I’ll post an update about my experience for my first visit. I’m really looking...
