Although I absolutely enjoyed the coffee and chicken salad croissant (which was fantastic), the real star of Common Grounds is the owner, Michelle. I walked in and she immediately greeted me and made sure I felt completely welcome.
Here is an example of absolutely stunning customer service: I went back out to my car to grab a bag, and a crew was working on the power lines outside the shop, and asked me to move my car. She came outside to see what was happening and she waved me down (as I always already moving), and told me where I could move my car without a problem. I was floored! The fact that she actually cared about my situation was just incredible.
She has TONS of passion, and even though I actually had my lunch in my car, I decided to grab some food in her shop along with my coffee because when you find someone putting out such good vibes into the world, you want to support them.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited this coffee shop, excited to support a neighborhood, women-owned business. I noticed the menu listed a small cup of coffee at $3.29, so I ordered two cups with a friend, expecting to pay that price. However, we were charged $9 per cup because it was made with Hawaiian coffee.
While I understand that premium beans come at a higher cost, I wish we had been informed about the upcharge before placing our order. In my experience, $9 for a cup of coffeeāespecially for a drip or Americanoāis very unusual, even when using specialty beans like Kona. This felt unexpected and left us feeling a bit disheartened.
We also ordered a cinnamon roll, which was tasty, but the price wasnāt displayed, and we only found out at checkout that it was $10 for a small roll. It would be helpful if prices were clearly listed for all items to avoid surprises.
I hope this helps improve the experience for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy fiancĆ© and I were running errands in the area and stopped in Common Grounds to check it out. The warm welcome we received as soon as we walked in the door was soooooo refreshing! We came for the coffee but stayed for the cozy vibes! We tried a couple of drinks from the āfallā menu, the Cozy Cup and Pistachio. They were the perfect choices for the cooler weather today! We had both drinks made with the Hawaiian coffee blend. Definitely try it! This place is a hidden gem of the River Oaks/Houston area. You can feel the love and passion Michelle has poured into her business in curating a brand that welcomes everyone. We will be back~ looking forward to trying the cinnamon rolls next time!
