Regarding owner’s response: this is patently false and Mauri is lying. No correspondence was sent saying they would be breaching their contract; if there was a conversation the owner had about this, I am certain that she would want to send it to prove me wrong. This was only relayed via phone by an employee who said he did not know why my clothes were being pulled.
As a preface, I’ve emailed the owner, Mauri, to let her know about my experience prior to this review and she chose not to respond. If you are looking to consign clothes here, proceed with caution. I highly recommend you not leave your clothes with this store.
On three separate occasions I brought clothes in to consign and was told that it could take up to two weeks to receive prices on the items, which is understandable. Two weeks came and went on the first batch and, as myriad other reviews will reaffirm, this store simply does not respond to your emails when you inquire. I called multiple times to ask about the items and the co-owner, Vicki, was rude on the phone and said I needed to wait two weeks. (In person she was just as condescending on multiple occasions. Based on this attitude you may be surprised to find out they sell used clothes.) I mentioned that it had already been longer than two weeks and she simply said I needed to wait and hung up.
I finally got the prices on these items about three weeks after bringing them in. I liked the prices and was nonetheless excited to do business with them. I brought in numerous other clothing items. Three weeks, again, had passed and I called and explained that, despite sending numerous emails to Mauri, she had, yet again, not cared enough to respond. The gentleman that works there then told me that all of my items were ready to be picked up. I was confused, as I did not request this. It is clear that Mauri or Vicki was upset that I was rightfully asking why my clothes are not being processed within the long window they say to wait. This action appears to have been a breach of their contract, as there is no mention that the store can do this. (Note: if you request to pull your items early they will eagerly charge you $10/item.)
Other reviewers explain nearly identical situations happening to them and the store usually responds saying that such a review is malicious or libel and that they will be prosecuted(?). It is actually incomprehensible why this store runs their business like this—especially considering they make money by having consigners come to them and give 50% of the sale price to the store.
I could not imagine why a business would want to treat their customers like this, but it is clear my experience with MTYCI was not an isolated incident. You would do much better to find a store that actually treats you with some...
Read moreI had a really negative experience reselling items here. Once the 90 day window had closed for resale I had a hard time getting a hold of someone to find out how many items sold and what they sold for. I left messages at the store and sent several emails to Mauri without anyone getting back to me. My sales were finally confirmed along with when I should expect to receive my check in the mail. Unfortunately, I had to follow up several times again the following month as payment was never received. After more calls and emails without anyone getting back to me I finally went into the store to find out what was going on. I was fed several excuses by the owner, Vikki, with no real explanation or apology as to why there was no communication and no payment.
When I picked up my items that hadn't sold I was informed that one dress was missing (unlucky for me it was the most expensive item I had brought in). I was told I'd be notified as soon as it was found. Three weeks and two more emails later without hearing from anyone it was clear the dress hadn't been found. After finally getting someone on the phone (their voice mailbox is always full so you can't leave a message) the owner told me she didn't know what happened to it and that perhaps someone stole it. The only thing they did right in this whole process was pay me for the dress they lost (as they should've).
Overall it was a frustrating experience with lots of hounding to get any information. The owner was rude and unprofessional during each of our exchanges. I can't remember the last time I received such poor customer service. Save yourself the trouble and sell your items elsewhere, or better yet, sell them yourself. It's...
Read moreDO NOT SELL WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! (LACK OF INTEGRITY)
This company is extremely unprofessional, if it isn’t them claiming they don’t have me in the system, never sending me updates on my item or just straight up rude employees i don’t know what it is.
I sold with them back in June…never got my check (or any emails/information until I called a few days ago)…it’s September !!! When I called to check on this situation The lady who answered the phone was extremely rude and told me the manger was in a meeting and they would call me back to discuss with me where the check is.
The manager originally told me she would deposit the money in my account, I trusted her!! But when I called they acted like I was making that up. Regardless, I left my address and banking information and still never received my check as I was moving and unable to pick it up in person.
When the manger called me back she did not want to discuss what happened or why I was never paid for my item. There was no making up for the fact it was never sent. She was rushing me off the phone and that was it. No apology no nothing. Just bad customer service.
This situation begs the question if I never called would they have ever sent me the money they said they were going to?
If you already sold with this company just make sure you stay on top of them, otherwise you probably won’t get paid. They will just keep...
