Quick 'check-in', prompt food service, very clean cinema & seats, and kind and friendly staff - including the cleaners!
We watched Top Gun 2: Maverick in Auditorium 12.
We arrived around 15 minutes before the listed time of the movie. I checked with the kind lady at ticketing regarding our tickets which we purchased online. She scanned the barcode from the e-mail, explained where auditorium 12 was and said we were good to go. With the e-mail, you just need to be scanned and not carry any physical tickets.
We then moved on to order our food. You can pre-order the food online but weren't sure if we'd eat somewhere earlier in the day so waited until arrival. The staff serving the food are polite and smiling. What I really liked to see is that the staff would help each other. As the lady was taking an order and the other man taking orders was free, he would help grab popcorn etc. for her while she continued taking the full order. Great job in helping make people's orders quicker.
You are given self-pour cups, lids and straws for the drinks. They serve you the popcorn, which was standard, tasty and warm.
We also ordered some chicken tenders and pretzel bites. The chicken tenders were for our elementary school daughter and the pretzel bites for my wife. They took about 5 minutes to come out (you order at the front and then wait at the pickup area at the cinema side of the counter). The lady delivering the food was very polite.
The serve sizes were, in our opinion, pretty generous for movie food. My daughter didn't finish her chicken tenders. Don't expect gourmet food like you're at an expensive restaurant, but it was pretty reasonable in taste. The pretzel bites came with a pretty good cheese and jalapeño sauce for dipping. The sauce was about the size of one of those kid's fruit cups, which was quite generous for sauce. They offered sauce with the chicken tenders, but my daughter didn't want any.
The drinks are served via a computerized machine where you pick up the food (cinema side of food ordering area). You need to use your smart phone to scan a QR code which lets you select what drink type you want, and then even lets you hold the button on your smartphone screen to pour the drink. It has a second or two lag so be careful! The ice is dispensed by pushing the cup against a silver-colored bar like normal. It's premix so let the drink settle before taking a sip :)
IMAX Auditorium 12 is pretty awesome. The screen is massive. My daughter said it was the biggest movie screen she's ever seen.
Each row has a small physical barrier between the next, so you won't see the person behind or below you. Note though that if you have a short child (
Read moreI've visited this AMC about 20+ times since June, and I have to say, almost every time is an awful experience. I've been writing this review for a while now so buckle up!
The seats are old, crusty, and ridiculously uncomfortable. I can't tell you how many times I've been watching an amazing movie, but part of me was wishing for it to end so I can get out of those seats.
The projection is not great, audio is often too low, and many theaters have bleed in sound from other theaters. It's so awkward watching a drama but suddenly hearing an explosion from the movie playing next door. Also, in many theaters, the AC is SO LOUD. You can hear the AC squeak and hum louder than the movie!
Theater etiquette from the people here is pretty awful. Many people talk, text, hop into a theater without buying a ticket, just to talk for 45 minutes then leave. Just on my last visit, a fight broke out as soon as the credits rolled. Nobody has any respect for the AMC A List priority line, everyone uses it, and nobody on staff checks to see if they are actually A List members.
By far the worst part is how many screens are messed up here. I've now seen 3 movies in this theater, MONTHS APART, where the projection was so messed up, you could not see the entire movie. When I brought it to the attention of the staff, they told me they couldn't fix it due to a motor issue. Many screens are dirty, stained, poorly projected, even their IMAX screen has a huge smudge on it!
The only two redeeming quality of this AMC is that the staff is genuinely friendly. Many smile and greet you when entering and are attentive with helping. EXCEPT, the manager. When I brought up the screen issue with him, he literally stopped listening to me mid conversation and left and said "I wasn't the manager here when the screen was messed up". Who cares? It's still messes up MONTHS later. Do something about it! The rest of the staff is lovely. The 2nd redeeming quality is that this AMC has many showings, that aren't offered at other AMC locations, however, I've noticed that less and less are being showed here. So that may be coming to an end soon?
Please avoid this AMC. I am heavily considering canceling my membership and switching to Regal, or making the drive out to the Woodlands. I cannot express my disappointment enough in this location and it's manager.
Also the popcorn is always cold and stale. Sometimes it's not...
Read moreSunday 3/3/19 - Gone With The Wind - HORRIBLE - Partial Refund - DO NOT PURCHASE ONLINE: I planned to take my best friend & daughters to see this movie for the 80th Anniv. We arrived, got our snacks and our seats. This theater does not let you pick seats when purchasing online but whatever so we arrived early. The seats felt DIRTY, do NOT recline & on top of that the movie started with NO SOUND. We were told they were looking into the problem but also that they could not & would not re-start the movie. For those that have not seen this movie, its almost a 4 hour movie. The opening scenes are important as it sets the tone for the whole movie. So 20 mins in they are still aka "working on it" & still they are saying that "it is what it is, we are not restarting the movie". Finally they tell us that we can all just go to Guest Services because they cannot get the sound to work. Our tickets were purchased online through the AMC website for the Deerbrook location, but upon getting the refund, the employee refused to refund the $9.76 online fee that are charged per ticket in additiona to the ticket price. In essence, I paid AMC for a movie that I DID NOT SEE so they get my money and I get nothing. They refund the actual ticket amount but not the additional charge saying "policy" won't allow them too. WHICH IS A RIP OFF. I do not normally use this movie theater & I WILL NOT EVER use this theater again. The customer service was so horrible & not understanding at all regarding the huge inconvenience this caused some people who traveled a couple of hours to see this movie as it was the closest location. THEN, guest services wouldn't refund your concession stand items claiming "oh I cannot do that, you have to go back into the concession stand line and get the credit over there". #@!^&! Really?! You are GUEST SERVICES! What do you mean you can't credit the stuff all in one place, why do you make people go and stand in 2 different lines. The staff was annoyed with us as if we did something wrong when they were the ones that were having the issues & then having to deal with BAD attitudes after the movie didn't want to work was just UNACCEPTABLE. Then to get shorted on the refund with no clear reason why. My family & I will never come back to AMC especially not the...
