Mary M. Bethune Park — Attraction in Huntington Park

wow! the memories! i grew up coming to this park since i was like maybe 6 or so! my family owned a house on 60th n hooper! OMG the memories! by age 13 i actually moved there and went edison and all that! the area was HOOD but the staff at the park really really loved the kids! i can remember miss veronica franklin who, at the time was the park manager, treating and even calling my sister and i her kids! my mom was away at the time so it was really a rough time for us but veronica would help me with homework and mentor me! encourage my singing! she was amazing! i often wonder if i will ever see her again! as i kid i remember this HUGE rocket they had n the sand area! and it was like really tall! lol u had to climb the inside of it i use to beg my parents to drive up from woodlandhills just to play on it then one day like maybe when i was 10 it was gone!. i played volleyball here, basketball, swimming. it was a great place for me as a kid! i met so many ppl 15 years ago and i can not believe it was that long ago! time flys - hope ur kids enjoy it...

This review is based on the interaction that I had today with the gentleman that was running the go go go grab and go event.

We registered to ensure we would not be wasting gas to get food.

Or ticket said to come between 3pm -4 pm Was waiting in line since 240pm

By 450pm the had run out and didn’t bother to let everyone that was waiting in line.

The attitude was “were out what do you want me to do?”

Why make people pre register and make them come at certain time slots if the Coordinators can not manage the event?

Why have walk ups if you advertise drive up event?

Even the employees I spoke to prior to the man in blue running where sorry and expressed that they didn’t understand how things ran out especially since people had registered and they hadn’t finished Mark’s many people on the list.

Thank you city if LA for failing again

City of Los Angeles should really fire people that aren’t able to do the basic job duties.

Example : 50 pre registered 50 items save for the pre registered.

Really great park the overall atmosphere is really good but in the back of the park there are many homeless and at night a bunch of shady people go and gamble while drinking beers and leaving lots of trash in the picnic area overall it's only in the back near the basketball area and other than that it's a pretty nice park to walk around and great for kids and pets just that the park manager or worker is really mean and will yell at kids for playing but overall...
