Man I am so pleased that I decided to stop by Xpress PC Repair; I was shopping laptops for my teen son so that he has something descent as he continues to attend High School remotely.
Don, the Owner, is a just a great, down-to-earth guy and very knowledgeable in IT with a long and impressive resume. At PC Xpress he carries stock of some refurb laptop computers and even does some custom building it turns out... He and his wife run a lovely shop in Huntsville TX, where I happened to be visiting. Anyhow I picked up a great HP Pavilion with a nice screen and in very nice shape but best of all it comes with some nicely beefed up specs complements of Don (+added DDR3 RAM; +HDD, MS Office suite and some software goodies) so frankly there is a whole lot more under the hood than what you would get w most "new, base priced Laptops that come pre-installed w Windows 10".
It's not a blazing fast machine, and the graphics card is just aight. BUT seriously for the price I am certain that I got the best deal in town by far and couldn't be more happy with my purchase ...really. It's a great computer and I know it was a great buy but even if something went sideways, I am sure that Don would be happy to help out an any way - really appreciate his hospitality and professionalism - So if you are shopping used computers, looking for a custom-build machine, or certainly if you are experiencing a problem w your PC - Don at Xpress PC Repair is your man!
Highly recommend and I certainly hope to visit again; happy to give them...
Read moreI brought my pc in because it kept resetting over and over, with no display. Ended up being a fried motherboard along with a bad stick of RAM.
I will come back to this place with any problems I have. Staff is kind and responsive, and they try to get your PC repaired as quick as possible. Don was kind enough to update me on the status of my computer and what was wrong. Originally, it was just the motherboard that was bad, but he went above and beyond and tested EVERY component, and found that I had a bad stick of RAM as well. He replaced my motherboard and returned my previous one to me so I could send it in for a refund.
I think the flat rate prices are somewhat high...for the average repair place. But for what Don and his team have done, that price is well worth it in my opinion. They don't just fix your problem...they go out of their way to root out every problem you might be having and make an effort to put it right. That's well worth paying a bit more.
Besides, they run a business, not a charity. They need to make money somehow too.
All in all, I'd give them six...
Read moreI asked how much it would be to replace the RAM in my computer with RAM that I already had and they said it would cost $75. For those of you who don't know much about hardware, replacing RAM is an extremely easy process that would take about a minute to replace. The only reason I even asked them for pricing is because I didn't have the screwdriver to open my laptop which you can get for $10 on amazon. The idea that it would cost $75 (not including the part itself) is outrageous.
Response to owners comment - Regardless of if you would have lent me a tool, which I strongly doubt given your highway robbery prices, quoting $75 to replace the RAM in a computer is absurd ESPECIALLY since that does not include the RAM itself, the only person who would ever pay that much to replace RAM is someone lacking tech literacy, your prices are clearly targeting people who are out of their depth and you think you can get away with charging them...
