Five Loaves Deli — Restaurant in Huntsville

I spotted this locally owned deli and I’m extremely glad I did!

Fives Loaves Deli in Huntsville, TX is a mellow and comfortable spot in a strip of small businesses slightly off the beaten path.

As soon as I walked in I was courteously greeted. The young lady working the counter was pleasant, friendly, and very helpful.

I noticed the daily soup special was Broccoli Cheese. Being as hungry as I was, I opted for the 16 oz. bowl. It was good, but fairly standard for that type of soup. Don’t get me wrong, it was quality but my sandwich was the superstar during this visit.

After asking about the Mississippi Comeback sauce on the sandwich of the same name, I ordered it. Fresh sliced tomato, grilled onions, thin sliced beef, and Comeback Sauce on a jalapeño cheddar cheese bun/roll.

To satisfy your curiosity, I was told the owners were from the Mississippi River Delta area. The Comeback Sauce was described as somewhere in between Thousand Island dressing and a remoulade sauce that was “aged” for 24 hours. Please forgive if I didn’t get that exactly right.

Bottom line is the Mississippi Comeback sandwich and sauce on the bread option I chose was delicious.

There’s plenty of seating in the two rooms that comprise this establishment. Plenty of parking in the lot too.

I would eat here again. I just can’t see how someone could not enjoy the food here.

I love this place because their food is amazing! I've ordered almost everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. The above statement is not an exaggeration, I worked at Five Loaves Deli for a year and in that time I went down almost the entire menu. The chicken salad sandwich on a sourdough bun is amazing. The pimento cheese sandwich is amazing. The black bean hummus is amazing. The quesadillas ARE HUGE!!! I'm 6'3" and the half order of the quesadillas fill me up so well! The full order is plenty for 2 people and at an amazing price! The atmosphere is so welcoming, and so homey, and it's just a delightful experience that Miss Judy has put together to make her deli feel like less of a restaurant and more like having a home cooked meal. The service is splendid, I would know, I used to work there. Charlie demands the most outstanding service possible out of his employees and it shows in the way the customers are greeted when they walk in, how they're treated while they're ordering and when they're dining inside, and how they're bid goodbye as they're walking out. Ten years ago, I found this little sandwich shop in small town Huntsville Texas that blew me away. I ordered a simple sandwich that had big flavor, an ATS/avacado tomato swiss. Everything was so fresh and crisp, you could feel the love of making good food in each bite. For two years I made it a point to get a sandwich from five loaves when ever I could. I moved away about eight years ago. My job has had me travel all over the southern united states. I've eaten at some really good restaurants but I've never found a sandwich as good as the one I fell in love with ten years ago at five loaves. Resently I was afforded the luxury of moving back to Huntsville Texas. Needless to say, within the first week of being back in Huntsville, I've gone to five loaves 3 times for my favorite sandwich that taste the same as it did all those years ago... Thank you five loaves for continuing to put love in each sandwich you...
