My husband and I have travelled to Huntsville for our anniversary in June every year for the past 10 years or so (we met at SHSU 33 years ago), and every year we always hit Mr. Hamburger on June 9th (day before our anniversary). Even though our order is usually messed up in some way (sauce or jalapenos left off, or put on when asked for on the side), it has always been an easy fix and the burgers have always been wonderful... juicy, flavorful, awesome ooze factor!! This last time, June 9th around 4pm, as we walked in we overheard a customer complaining he'd never been served a colder or more dry burger ever. Thought it might be a one order problem, but sadly it was not. Both our burgers came out luke warm at best, and were awfully dry. Like, REALLY DRY!! Rather than have them redo the order like they had already done for the other customer before I heard what he said about his redo, we just ate what we could. But they were dismal! I said something to a young blonde employee who informed me that because of a beef shortage, they weren't getting the same quality beef as in the past. I suggested that they put up a sign telling customers that fact, giving them a choice as to what they want to order. She got snippy with me and said, "Well, it is on our website!" I looked, and didn't find anything like that. I informed her that I wasn't ordering from the website, and it would have been nice to know before we ordered. After that, she ignored me, and we left. What a terrible shame! Not only were the burgers dismal, but so was this young woman's attitude. So sad, we might just have to skip Mr. Hamburger on our next trip to Huntsville unless their burgers, and their customer service, go back to the good quality...
Read moreAtmosphere: Coming up the road, it was hard to miss this place due to the iconic Mr. Hamburger logo but also the building itself. It almost felt like it was from a different time, which I greatly appreciated since you don't see that as often. Upon entering, it carried that ambiance to the inside as well, from the colors in the inside to all the posters describing about past events local to the area. Being able to see the prison was a sight to behold from our table.
Service: Overall the service was average, it did feel like it took awhile to obtain our meal and looking over to other customers, it looked like it was the same to them.
Quality: The quality of our meal was a different experience, we opted out of our meal fries and went with one of their specialty fries, the buffalo chicken fries. Definitely a unique twist to some already good fries and had a great amount of flavor. The amount of fries was good enough for two people to share or if you have a big appetite, would be more than enough for oneself. I ended up going with the Old Sparky since I would be attending the Texas Prison Museum later on that day. The Texas-in-July sauce was a great addition to an already unique deep fried paty and safe to say that it will be a favorite of mine.
Recommendation: What looks like a original establishment to the city of Huntsville, I would recommend stopping by just to step into the history of the town, but getting an Old Sparky wouldn't...

Noticed all the people who ordered after us received and were finishing their food and we hadn’t received ours. I asked the lady running the food out of our order had possibly gotten skipped and was greeted with an eye roll and she turned and walked away. We waited a few more minutes and she brought food out, cold, missing cheese on my fries and my husband’s burger and a milkshake. I asked her if we could get the cheese and she snatched my basket without taking his so I followed to the counter with his and told her I was still missing a milkshake and the cheese from his burger. She took it to the back and literally threw cold shredded cheese on it and handed it back with her famous eye roll. I asked the other lady who was making the milkshakes about mine and she said she’d bring it out. She brought out two other tables shakes without mine again and finally brought mine about 5 minutes later. I understand being busy and even short staffed but the attitudes and being annoyed because they lost our ticket was a little much. $27 to wait almost an hour for cold food and to be treated like we did something...
