PC-Help — Attraction in Hurst

Brian was SUCH a pleasure to work with! He was kind, professional, and most importantly, knowledgeable. When my MacBook Pro started freezing, I was initially going to take it to the Apple store to get it looked at. My dad highly recommended PC Help, and specifically Brian at this location, so I figured I would give it a try. I was blown away by the service, to say the least. The Apple store near me got a “makeover,” which has resulted in extremely long wait times and subpar service. At PC Help, I was helped (ha ha) right away. Best of all, the store was small and uncrowded. The Apple store seriously makes me feel like I’m drowning in a sea of people.

I had called Brian before going to the store because I wasn’t sure if he repaired Macs. On the phone, he immediately told me what he thought could be wrong with my laptop and said that he’d run a diagnostic check after I dropped my laptop off at the store. The diagnostic check had initially come back showing an operating system failure, but after my computer continued to act up, Brian ran another check. Turns out that the logic board had failed (hopefully I worded that correctly). It was smart of him to run another check, and honestly, I’m not sure that other people would’ve done that. The logic board was expensive to replace (because Mac parts are very expensive), so Brian recommended buying another used laptop. That showed me two things: 1) He was knowledgeable about computer parts and how costly they are and 2) He didn’t push me for a sale. I can almost guarantee that had I gone to the Apple store, I would’ve been pushed to either get the repair done or to buy one of their new laptops, which are out of my budget. How do I know that? Because it’s happened to me before. Don’t get me wrong: I don’t hate the Apple store. They’ve been very helpful before and even replaced my phone for free after the Touch ID was damaged while they were replacing the battery. I mean, yeah, they were the ones that damaged my phone, but at least they replaced it. But, you just can’t beat the service and speed of PC Help.

Brian didn’t even make me pay for the service. He said that I could put the diagnostic fee money towards buying a new laptop. I mean, that’s literally the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me. I have been using this business for about four years now, and won't go anywhere else. They are knowledgeable, reasonable, and a great value...I will give you three examples: Brought my wife's HP 17" laptop (this was years ago). At that time, the screen didn't seem to be anchored correctly into the frame of the laptop and was lose. I read that HP used plastic anchors, and the only solution was to order a new case and have everything reinstalled...or you could glue the screws in, and hope for the best, as that's a band-aid not a solution. Brought it in, and the gentleman (I think it was Bryan) called me about a half-hour later and told me that the screws were merely lose. The plastic anchors were not stripped and after he screwed it back in, I was ready to go. - They easily could have told me I need a new case, and I would have never known...but they did the honest and professional route.

I installed some "highly recommended" IOLO System Mechanic Software, that PCMAG gave 4.5 stars (and was the editors choice), onto my home computer...thought it would make things run more efficiently and I would be up to date on all my drivers. Lo and behold, I implemented the updates, and there went my three screens...NOTHING worked and it messed up my GeForce graphics cards...just a mess. Brought it in in and they replaced it (old cards) with new graphics cards (all HDMI), and my three 32" monitors are working perfectly...all for a very reasonable price.

Yesterday, my PC started to experience audio/visual/processor millisecond pauses...almost like computer glitches in the Matrix...I thought "Morpheus, is that you?" :) Anyway, I hadn't done a thing, but brought it in, as I thought the 500MB SSD was going out. They ran tests and found that my PC had auto updated some windows drivers, and that was screwing me up. They cloned my PC onto a 1TB SSD card (I brought in) and had me fixed and running new within a few hours...again, for a VERY reasonable price.

Brought in a laptop with a cracked touchscreen. They gave me a couple of options to repair it. There was a problem when they put it back together and the hard drive didn't work. I wasn't happy as now I thought I would be out money for the screen and now more money for the drive. If I had known there was a chance of it needing more repairs, I would have likely not done any of it on a mid-range laptop and just bought a new one. So, that was an issue. We discussed the issue and they said they should have tested the drive before repairing the screen. But, then they impressed me with giving me an offer of returning the laptop to the original state (broken screen) and only charging me a diagnostic fee. I'd be out $30 instead of hundreds. I thought that was reasonable... much more reasonable than paying a couple of hundred dollars to have a new screen on a broken laptop or throwing more money into an old laptop when I could just buy new. But then they really impressed me. Since they said they should have tested the drive before trying the screen repair, they went ahead and gave me a replacement hard drive... at no charge. They went above and beyond to ensure I was happy with their service. There was an issue, and they made it right....
