It's been a few years since I have came in. Prior to my woodworking absence, I spent decent money at the store for supplies and equipment, and was always greeted well and received great service.
However, today was different. As I'm getting back into woodworking, and setting up new shop at a new house, it was a complete change from the past. I went in today with intentions of a Laguna F2 tablesaw. Unfortunately, the store only had Sawstops on display. Not a big problem. I also spent a few more minutes looking at t track for my workbench. I spent over ten minutes in the store, not one person said hello as I walked in. Not one person offered any help. As a matter of fact, employees went out of their way to avoid eye contact, it seemed.
I understand masks can somewhat mute our voice and perhaps not be heard clearly, but I and a gentleman who works there finally made eye contact, and I put my hand out with clear indication I had a question. This gentleman then turned and walked away. The gentleman behind the register too turned his back, clearly not interested in helping. I said "whatever", and walked out the store. After a minute I returned to clearly vent my frustration. The same gentleman who walked away from me quickly met me inside the double doors and ushered me away saying I have to wait (Corona limitations - funny it didn't matter the previous 10-15 minutes immediately prior.)
I then told this employee he walked away from me and not one person ever even said hello. His disinterest was obvious, and when I said I guess I'll just start going to Rockler then, he shrugged and said "have a good day."
The only communication I received from any employee today was met with indifference, followed by a good riddance. It's a shame that customer service is not what it used to be in Woodcraft judging by my recent interaction in the store.
While I am still excited to shop for a new table saw, t track, and everything else I can think of in the future, I was dismayed today, and will trek out to Rockler in Arlington this weekend to shop. Hopefully though, customer service can return to Woodcraft once again and make it a friendly, enjoyable experience so I can feel good about stopping by...
Read moreI wish I could say that I would never go back, but they are the only store that carries some of the stuff that I need. Here's the deal. I go into the store looking for something for my most recent project. A guy asks if he can help and I tell him what I am looking for. He goes and gets another salesperson, so now there are TWO salesmen helping me. Together they figure out the best tool to use and I walk to the cashier. The cashier is ALWAYS nice. She is very sweet. She always asks what I am working on. On this occasion, there is also an older gentleman behind the counter. He sees what I am buying, grabs it off the counter, and says in a gruff/accusatory manner, "What are you doing with this?" I tell him my plans for the tool. He says to me, "This tool is to be used on a Mortising Machine." I say that I know that. He says, in the most condescending manner, "Do you HAVE a Mortising Machine?" I answer that I do not. He says, "What are you going to do? Bash it with a hammer?" I say yes, that is what I intend to do. Not only was this guy completely condescending to me (I assume he does not grill he male customers in such a fashion). The TWO salesmen that RECOMMENDED that tool to me and were present for the entire interrogation...SAID NOTHING. They did not offer the information that it was their idea or indicate in any way that they were part of the selection of that tool. The older guy needs to understand that women these days can vote, drive, own property and yes, buy woodworking tools. The two salesmen just need to...
Read moreI am a small business owner, specializing in custom wood pieces. My reasoning for shopping at Woodcraft is for the hard to find unique items and of course for woodworking equipment etc. However, the last three times I have been to this location (Hurst) the specific item I was looking for was not in inventory, the shelf “Empty”. These items include; Full extension drawer slides, drawer pulls, and screw inserts. I can only assume this location is not managed correctly because all these items were readily available online. I needed the items same day, otherwise I would have ordered online. My other irritating complaint is every time I walk into this store I am greeted at the front with: “can we help you find anything “. If my response is “no thank you, I know what I need”. Then do not hover around me and follow me around the store and then start asking me what do you need etc. Sometimes I like to shop a little and spend more money. My last visit to this store this exact same thing happened, starting with the item out of inventory secondly the store clerk followed me around asking me questions about what are you working on etc. Unfortunately, I’m done with this location, I will no longer shop here. Being a small business owner time is money, and waisted time driving to a brick & mortar store only to discover the needed items were out of stock is a huge...
