Although the food is good I have to be honest the service is poor and they don’t seem to be welcoming of other races. I visited there yesterday for a to go order. When I first walked in aside from the lack of greeting or acknowledgement i noticed what looked like the mom of the family business was sitting out front with a huge bowl between her legs. From where I was sitting I couldn’t see what was inside but I did see her with a knife cleaning some sort of meat . She was literally sitting in the dining room where the guests entered with her feet propped up digging cleaning and scraping some sort of meat. 1st red flag. I thought it was kind of warm in there at first but I thought it was because I had just came from outside. I was there waiting for about 45 min which is not unusual for them. By this time I knew it was little to no a/c. 2nd red flag. I knew the wait times were long. But as I’m waiting I’m watching other guests that are dining in get sat and get their food sooner than me. Another gentleman, of Asian or Chinese descent, came in and sat next to me to get his order. Once his order was ready the teenager after sneezing and wiping the sweat from his brow walked and brought his food to him. 3rd red flag. At that point I was like I probably should cancel this order but it was too late. After sticking to the wooden chair from the sweat building up due to no a/c . I sat and watched this little girl probably age10 wait 5 tables then my food was ready. The teenaged boy looked at me and beckoned by nodding his head for me to come and grab my food from the counter . He did not bring mine like the other gentleman. I wanted to brush it off but I couldn’t help but notice since I was the only non cultural guest in the establishment. I’m thinking to myself I’ve waited too long for this food I’m just ready to go. So I left. Moral of the story if you feel that from the start someone does not want you there they probably don’t, trust...
Read moreI’ve heard so much about this place and wanted to try it for a while, but I couldn’t justify driving for ~50 minutes just for this restaurant, until we finally made it today while visiting Fort Worth. This is your typical “hole in wall” situation: the food was good, but if you have any standards regarding service and ambience, think twice before you dine in (seriously, the owner even have a couple of messages about this).
We ordered the famous meat pie (京东肉饼) and sweet and sour deep fried pork (锅包肉) plus a couple of other dishes. They are tasty (though a bit salty to my personal taste), but it felt like it took forever for the food to come… The owners make it a great deal about “not rushing the cook and wait patiently”, so we followed the rules. I think we waited ~40min for our first dish to come and we were all starving. By the time our last dish came out, we almost forgot we ordered this dish as the wait was too long and everyone finished almost everything. That being said, the food was good, and everyone enjoyed the food despite the long wait. Also want to thank the staff for being patient with us and the baby+toddler! Sorry for making a small mess.
I’d recommend this place if you just want authentic Chinese food (northern style) and don’t care much about the sticky floor and food residuals in...
Read moreWhen I came in and ordered I was uncertain if they had any food other than about 4 items, but I already knew I wanted dumplings. The ointeraction ordering was interesting. It wasn’t obnoxiously rude but it just seemed off. I noticed on the door it said no ToGo orders and then I overheard another employee say the same. So I ordered my food sat down and waited. While I was waiting I decided to look at the reviews because the condition of the restaurant and cleanliness is questionable.reading other reviews it was clear that I was feeling the way others felt in here. But then my order came up along with a couple that ordered about 5 minutes after me. Their food was for here and somehow mine was to go. I wanted to eat there but since it was packed to go, I decided to eat in my car. No straw, utensils or napkins. So had to go back.
The dumplings were amazing, fresh and delicious.
I got a Thai milk tea and it was not bad but wouldn’t order it again, compared to most I have had, it was bland.
If you are looking for amazing dumplings come here. I wouldn’t say my experience was bad but also wasn’t ideal, so I still...
