Dollar Tree — Attraction in Imperial Beach

I usually like this place well enough, but tonight I had an unpleasant experience overall. Besides asking an employee if they had an item that ended up being in that aisle, they started dimming the lights when I walked in around 9:15. Store wasn't supposed to close till 10, so I thought that was strange. Then around 9:30 they TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF ALTOGETHER for several seconds! I've never experienced this before in any store, and it startled me. I was upset and asked the the girls at the front what was going on. They said Corporate was controlling it not them. After I left they did it again, again for several seconds. It was 9:36 pm! Almost half an hour till closing! I have such a hard time believing a corporation would do this on purpose, it seems do disrespectful, and...

When this location opened, I was not impressed. Product selection was low, and they didn't carry much of what I was looking for. That has been turned right around, and I'm pretty happy with the store now. It's not a full function grocery store, but I doubt it was ever meant to be. That being said, they carry products I have difficulty finding across the street at Grocery Outlet. My only negative comment about the store is that their tortillas are too small, but that's an extremely small complaint. I was able to make lunch and dinner for 3 on eight dollars. I've always liked this Dollar tree location. Not too big and not too small and staff are always helpful and have positive attitudes. Store is also kept clean and usually stocked. Selection of items is also good. Nice to know that this location has gift cards racks.

I’m not a big fan of self serve checkouts and their three self checkout line can be long. Often times, when it does, staff will open up a cashier line.

You may find undesirable-looking people outside entrance area standing around, maybe asking for money. They seem to be harmless.
