We went for a child's birthday party. We talked to couple while we waited for our people to get there. But there was a woman there who was upset about not having her children and wanted to pick fights with everyone. Not cool. A parent called the police on her and they walked her off the property. So the children could go play in the water. It rained while we were there, and the children played in the water in the rain and that included my 33 year old daughter and her friends and my oldest granddaughter. I didn't want to get sick again so I just watched them play in the water like I used to with my children. There were some homeless people there on the picnic area. They have horseshoe games but they were locked and nothing to play with but the stakes. On the side of the park where we were there were four covered picnic tables. Behind the restrooms was a large party going on. They had a Mickey Mouse character. How cool for those children. Tip though, it would be nice for others who come after the parties to have clean tables. Hint, hint. Please clean up after yourselves when you patty at a park. There was one table down by the water that was covered with white foam or frosting even on the ground and...
Read moreI love this place. I have only had one bad/weird experience of all the years I've taken my kids up here. (Just some guy walking around offering kids to come and eat some hot dogs and burgers he was making, he may have worked at the fire station though, as there is one right next door to the park.) But, he could have been a creep? There were a few other parents there that kept a very close eye on him because they had a bad feeling as much as I did.
We really like the spray park. It's kind of a hit and miss as far as how busy or crowded it gets. Which really isn't that big of a deal. The playground right next to the spray park is kind of neat because it's railroad themed. I think it's also made out of a bunch of recycled material which is cool. The only thing that baffles me is the all metal slide that's attached to it and sits in full sunlight all day as there is no shade. I thought metal slides were a thing of the past because people were getting severe burns from them?! There is also a small baseball (t-ball?) diamond/field right next to it.
There is another, older playground further down from the spray park that's pretty fun to play on. My son actually liked it better than the newer...
Read moreThis was my first time going to McCoy Park and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of effort, thought, and money has gone into the park and it really shows! It is well maintained. I didn't see garbage on the ground. The grass is cut and it is freshly landscaped. It has multiple playground areas, a baseball diamond, a splash water area that wasn't turned on yet until the official summer season begins and outdoor restrooms. It is wheelchair accessible with multiple ramps and a swing with a shoulder brace and latch.
The playgrounds are padded and there are lots of slides that are adult accessible should your little ones need your assistance. Or you're a kid at heart and want to slide too lol. All the children and adults were very polite and friendly here.
There are drinking fountains and shaded benches to sit on. The kids loved the musical instruments to play with as well. We will be back for sure to check out that splash area...
