This is always a good time. The variety of foods and merchandise vendors is second to none in the area, any time of year. The live bands are great, the local performers on the small stage is also fun. I was grateful to see additional public seating this year. If these were located throughout the grounds, I think it would really help patrons of all ages to really enjoy the festival even more. It's a lot of hoofing in usually pretty intense heat. A few covered benches to take a break in some shade would be appreciated by all. We always come out at least twice over the holiday weekend to take in all that we can. Set in the historic downtown square of Independence, lots of booths for food, military branches, arts and crafts, and more. The neatest part to me is the Mainstreet 1849 Pioneer Party where they have the wagon supplies, pioneer life display, rope making, blacksmithing, old jail, and old home. Read moreGotten to commercialized. Made cost for vendors so high that small, local groups can't afford to be there. $1,100 for a booth is ridiculous. Many food places didn't have prices listed and didn't tell people there was an added fee if used a card or e pay. That is deceiving people. Places should be required to list prices. Allow political groups out there too, recall Frank White protesters shouting and a Trump merchandise booth. Still good food and crafts but more concerned about making money than attracting local places and giving honest prices...
