Our family has been coming to AMC 17 (previously Kerasotes) for the last 60 years.
It is truly a historical landmark that transports you back in time. As far as I know, it is the last "old school" theater left in the city - we love it!
They've recently added the Dolby room, a huge plus for this theater. The old brick infrastructure, combined with the Dolby audio experience is outstanding!
Although I am personally not a smoker, most of the theaters allow smoking (both tobacco and pot). We don't mind these theaters because it reminds us of our younger days. The smell of tobacco and weed really accentuates the "old timey theater" experience.
On Fridays and Saturdays, they offer adult entertainment in select 21+ theaters. Not an option for a family with kids, but my wife and I have gone numerous times and it is definitely interesting. The waitresses coming around in skimpy outfits was a little distracting from the film; but other than that, no complaints!
The bar has also been a huge hit since it's installment 6-7 years ago. One of my friends actually had a bachelor party in the bar - we didn't even see a movie!! You can't beat the entertainment AMC provides. The bartender told us they do $3 shots on Tuesdays, but we have not made it in yet for this.
One huge addition was the live feeds of the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. The idea is to bring back "classic movie previews." In the old days, movie theaters would show film of WW2 to encourage support for our men overseas. So before the movie, AMC will show it's live feed of modern conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Fair warning - it is very graphic. I would not recommend bringing young kids to the movie previews. That being said, it is very humbling and makes you feel blessed to be at AMC.
The only downfall of AMC is they got rid of the game room. My assumption - too many incidents. The game room had a really cool "fight club" experience for kids. Basically there was a wrestling mat and various costumes. The kids could dress up as their favorite heroes and fight with other kids. I was surprised it stayed open as long as it did.
Overall - great experience at AMC. As long as they stay true to themselves and retain the "traditional" movie watching, our family will continue to...
Read more25+ years later, still seeing movies at an AMC. This location used to be so clean and well maintained. This rating used to be a 5. It has continued to go down for several reasons.
Normally we see the movies in the morning. Everything is fresh and relatively clean, including the popcorn.
Seeing a movie in the evening at this AMC has been so disappointing, lately. Filthy, dirty seats, ground, soda dispenser, even the bathrooms. Greasy consoles in the theatre; so gross to touch. Popcorn, napkins, butter, salt, wrappers, trash everywhere!
Talking of popcorn. Lately, when we attend in the evening, the popcorn has been a waste of money! The popcorn is all but crumbs and kernels. And it does not settle well in the stomach. It has been 3 times we have had popcorn in the evening at the movies and the popcorn has been unsettling in our stomachs.
The condiment station, no matter what time you go, is never stocked. I think I would drop down if the butter for the popcorn was not out of butter. EVERY time we go, one or more butter pumps is out and I always seem to find that one. And when you tell someone, they do nothing, and no one responds.
If we continue going to this theatre, it will not be in the evenings anymore. But something needs to change to keep our loyalty with this theatre.
The A-List benefits are a joke. If the concession stand has 3 employees, 2 will be for the non-A-Listers, and 1 for the A-Listers. And it is always the slowest employee. The A-List entrance is nonexistent. The only benefit we see is the number of movies we can see per month for $19.95. Otherwise, no real benefit.
Complaining to management does not do any good. They are just as good at not caring and not reponding as the employees. A great example of poor...
Read moreI love the way this theater company (AMC), has its customer service goals aligned with the amenities you actually want included, as a well deserved patron, on its website or app for a greater customer experience in its establishment.
Let me explain if you will take a moment to listen. First off, it offers 1st come 1st served seating, by allowing you the option of hassle free seating no matter what time you arrive at the viewing (late or early) no matter the circumstance or excuse! Why? Because you have the convenience of purchasing your tickets online or through the app (like I stated above) and predesignate (reserve) your seating. They took the notion we've all had about where we may get seated depending on how early or late we arrive to the showing. How awesome! 👍
Plus, you can pre-purchase your concession stand selections and it's waiting fpr you to pick up at the time you select so its Hot and Fresh when get there. Like I mentioned above, you can just walk right into the theater with all your goodies and not have to wait in a single line. Being my second best reason I rock with AMC.
YOU get to skip the lines for ticketing and don't have to stand in the concession line either. You can just walk right up to the host or hostess and scan your QR code and proceed to enjoy your AMC movie seeing experience as it should be totally enjoyable and $ worth it! Need I say more. SERIOUSLY?
In short, my family and I will definitely be back and back and back again. Especially since we are AMC rewards members. 😁 Gotta enjoy the perks ppl!...
