My wife and I took one of the pottery classes at the Fountain Square Clay Center several months ago and we really enjoyed ourselves. Chris, the owner, was a great teacher and his shop was really nice. These classes are great for a date night, or to try out a new art form. I was also happy to know that you can purchase studio time here to continue throwing pottery without classes, if desired. Read moreSo far so good. I signed up for a 6 (or is it 8) week course and I was the only student who signed up. Chris, the owner, communicated with me and tried to work with my restrictive schedule. He ended up delaying the schedule by a couple of weeks and keeping the same time. Only 2 weeks in Chris is a great teacher. He is an expert at what he does, he tries to teach skills but also lets us mess up, experiment and frankly be slow and sloppy learners. The studio environment is chill. I am not embarrassed to be kind of bad at pottery or not...
Read moreI attended a One Night Class. This class is a great introduction to pottery, a couples activity or fun to go with girlfriends. The instructor explained the steps of creating a small bowl or cup. You are given enough clay for 3 small pieces that you can buy for $5 each after the class ends. (Not mandatory to purchase any or all) They will fire and glaze your pieces for you in 2 weeks. It's a fun environment, noone is pressuring you to make your pieces perfect.
