Sitting in a charming brick building on the corner of Michigan and Arsenal, Grounded Plant & Floral Co. is the type of business that helps define the character of a neighborhood. Calling this a “plant store” would not do it justice, for Grounded has more the atmosphere of an artisan studio than a retail establishment.
The first impression showcases, by no surprise, the vast variety of plants on offer. But each plant isn’t merely “displayed” as you might find on a typical retail shelf - in uniform but dull rows. Rather, each plant has found a comfortable home. Some are high, others are low. Some in pots, others in antique dresser drawers. The effect is alluring, drawing you in and through the store, exploring the corners and pockets of a carefully designed studio.
The folks staffing the shop are perfect complements to the store’s comfortable atmosphere: knowledgeable but unpretentious, helpful but laid back.
They helped educate us on options for our low light living room. We happily walked out with a mid-size “ZZ Plant” and added couple succulents for the nursery. All were fairly priced and looked healthy.
All in all, this company puts passion and design on display. They have certainly earned the patronage of my family. Thank...
Read moreSuch a cute and hidden gem! I love going to local plant shops since you never know what you’ll find there. At first I was a little nervous since the place had a very “boutique” feel to it from the outside, so I was thinking that the prices were going to be on the higher side. But as soon as I actually got in there, I was shocked to see how reasonable their prices were, especially for some of the more “uncommon” or rare plants. I got my ficus elestica “tineke” for less than $10 here! I haven’t seen these plants anywhere in the Indianapolis area! The ladies behind the front desk were super kind as well. Be sure to sign up for their reward system at check out! Overall very relaxing and quiet place to stop by for good quality houseplants. Whether you’re just starting your plant-parent journey or have been in the game for some time now, you’ll find...
Read moreIn my opinion, this shop is NOT a good one. We’ve purchased many plants and some seem to have come with root rot. After asking for advice we were given info that isn’t true. Our monstera deliciosa had root rot, we were told that it could be the humidity, that is 100% a lie. Monsteras love humidity probably because they are native to rainforests. Another thing I noticed is that the entire shop is filled with incense smoke. Not sure if anyone there has ever possessed any knowledge on growing plants. Seems like they just order them and resell them, I came to this conclusion after seeing the items they sell, it’s as if they just want to be trendy. Not to mention everything is overpriced for only having a 1 week return policy. Wish it could’ve been different, as actual growers we are not happy or impressed, plenty of better options in...
