The best part of this Starbucks is it’s close proximity to Methodist Hospital. It’s walking distance for people from the main hospital, neuroscience center, and the IT building. This location as has the most convenient drive thru so it’s used by everybody going to work downtown as well. This is a busy location.
That being said, this location isn’t managed well because it’s always mayhem. It isn’t unusual for the drive thru line to get backed up all the way to Capital Ave disrupting the flow of traffic. Since the staff has drive thru time metrics to push cars through the drive thru as quickly as possible, it comes at the expense to the wait time of mobile order and walk in customers. The only drink I purchase is a large, black, hot brewed coffee. It’s simple: pull the lever and 5 seconds later the cup is full. When I place a mobile order it’s usually between 4-13 minutes ETA in the app, but in actuality it’s 2-30 minutes. If you’re looking for a hot brew you’re better off just standing line because it gets poured by the cashier. Starbucks hasn’t figured out how to direct the hot brew orders to the printer at the cashier station, so hot brew mobile orders get put in the specialty drink queue and you have to wait for your sticker to pop out for the barista to give the sticker to the cashier. It’s completely asinine and extremely frustrating to witness this inefficient process.
Then comes the quality of the service. Sometimes you get a friendly barista that gives you a smile and thanks you for your order, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes the coffee is hot, fresh brewed, sometimes it’s warm, stale and get coffee grinds in your drink. There is absolutely no consistency with the experience at...
Read moreI was really excited for this new location to open because I was a daily customer for the old store. The service and quality of the drinks are hit or miss. Unfortunately a miss most of the time for both. One time out of so many I finally spoke up about how the drink was wrong and with a smile they said they could remake it BUT while telling the barista to remake the drink both the cashier and the barista were rolling their eyes and giving each other the look like "are you serious". First, I'm paying a little over 7.00 (daily)for this cup of coffee and for the last two years I normally just take the coffee and never ask for a remake or complain (just hope the next one is better or close) so for those two ladies to behave that way and openly act like that in front of me like I couldn't see them definitely helped to make the decision to go out of my way to another shop. I could almost understand if I was being rude but I was very polite about it. Do better Starbucks, manage and train you're people for customer service at this location. On the flip side, the new location that I've been going to for the past week has been phenomenal! Every employee that I have encountered has been very polite and I don't mind that they do not have a drive through or the occasional wait because my drink is always consistent and...
Read moreI had the misfortune of walking in to order a grande Frappuccino and venti water. The cashier advised that they can not give venti waters, something I’ve never heard of in the history of Starbucks. I asked “why” and she said because her manager told her to. I asked for the manager who was standing close by (ginger colored mangly hair, crooked septum piercing), and when I asked her if I could get a venti water she said “no”. I asked “why” and she replied with “because I said so”. Completely inappropriate and disgusting. I know some people feel the need to exercise control of other’s because they’re weak and have very little going for themselves, but the behavior is a poor reflection of the Starbucks’ brand (besides her appearance). To make matters worst she continued to antagonize the situation when I advised her that her behavior is unbecoming of a manager & not customer centric. She stated “well I’m good at my job. Awwwww you’re mad”. No, I’m not mad- just disturbed that Starbucks’ hires pitiful people who take out the anger from their failures’ in life upon other people. I will never patronize this location again just from that experience. It’s a crazy world we live in and not much is stopping people from battering others. Starbucks would do well to ensure that they hire employees who avoid confrontations...
