I HIGHLY recommend GOAT Fitness. I have trained with GOAT Fitness since July 25th 2017 and the training program has COMPLETELY changed my relationship with my body, my workouts, and my old ideas about fitness. I usually never write reviews, because how can you trust someone else's opinion, so here is some background on me and WHY GOAT Fitness has worked for me and whether or not you'll be happy here.
I used to be really athletic I played division II soccer for Cal State LA, sports in HS and growing up, but soon after I left college I gained weight. While I was never obese I was 186 in January of 2017. In March of '17 I joined a personal fitness studio to lose weight before my June wedding. The workouts were 30 minute 'circuit' style and honestly I really didn't see results until I did their SUPER RESTRICTIVE diet (no fruit, no dairy, no calories...) the day of my wedding I weighed 172. But soon after my wedding I started to feel unmotivated, it didn't help that the trainer and the owner of the gym were FOCUSED SOLELY on me "getting smaller" and "sticking to the diet". Despite the fact I continued to go to my sessions, I was gaining weight back...
AND THEN GOAT FITNESS HAPPENED. My new husband had been working out with Jon of GOAT Fitness for a few months before our wedding, lifting weights, losing weight, and eating all the food groups. I was jealous of his results and his passion for his workouts, but weary that I would turn into the hulk if I lifted a heavy weight. I went to ONE boot camp with GOAT Fitness, we were doing push ups and Jon complimented the muscle tone on my arm (never mind I was doing knee push-ups), IN THE 5 MONTHS with my other trainer she NEVER complimented my muscles... So I gave Jon and GOAT Fitness a chance. I explained to Jon that I wanted to be strong, I naturally had a muscular body, and that by starving myself and suffering through heavy cardio I lost weight but that wasn't a lifestyle I could maintain ( I was back to 181). Jon listened and laughed as I explained that I was scared I would look like the HULK, but ready to stop punishing my body and instead challenge it to do more. Jon explained that lifting weights would have the opposite effect, that I would get leaner, smaller, and more defined. He said that he wanted to change my diet to allow me to eat carbs, more calories, and that I would lose weight.
GUESS WHAT? After 3 months I weigh less today then the day I got married, I eat ALL THE FOOD GROUPS, and I look forward to my workouts. Strength training allows me to focus on WHAT MY BODY CAN DO, the workouts are intense, but all well planned. Jon records the weights I lift and designs each workout with CLEAR and SPECIFIC goals, and while I do put in effort to eat according to my Macros, our focus is on what my BODY CAN DO rather than HOW IT LOOKS. I'd be lying if I said that I would be this excited about my workouts if I didn't look AMAZING too. I weighed 170 this morning, almost 12 weeks in, and I am getting that toned defined look I was always chasing.    Read moreWhere to start! I was refered to GOAT fitness through a good friend and after looking at all the positive reviews I decided to give it a shot. To start, I’m not the only woman! There was a great balance of both men and women and the clean, open atmosphere allowed me to feel empowered and motivated. I quickly felt comfortable and the waves of uncertainty were gone before I even thought twice about them. I didn’t feel any pressure or Sales-y pitches like so many other gyms have made me feel.... and great selection of equipment!
What empresses me the most is that I’ve FINALLY found a gym that tailors to me and not me trying to tailor around the gym. It’s a lifestyle after all, right? After just a few trainings I feel stronger and am excited to become the best version of myself! Very professional and unique. So glad I found this place!

   Read moreYou won't find a better gym than GOAT Fitness! Welcoming environment that is spotlessly clean, with state-of-the-art equipment... they have literally built an adult fitness playground. Jon's spirit and passion is incredibly rare/special. He is educated in and has experience helping people get the specific results they want to see. Always prepared for each of our sessions with a well-planned, customized workout that is challenging for my fitness level, yet creative and fun. He pushes you and doesn't let you get away with anything -- but remains kind and supportive while doing so. I also appreciate that he is super organized and keeps track of the weights I'm using for each move, so I can see how far I've progressed.
