We moved to Jacksonville just over a year ago and had driven by Adventure Landing plenty of times, but never stopped in. Just before the Holidays came around we checked the place out and at first glance were happy with what we saw. Itâs not until you start really looking around that youâll start to notice things. Weâve never used any of the aquatic park items, so we can only speak to the rest of the attractions. The equipment and facility are aging and much of it needs to be repaired or replaced.
The batting cage machines are constantly much slower or faster than advertised and ball placement is very inconsistent (inside, high, outside, low)
We tried the race track a multitude of times over several visits and without fail there was always a vehicle that broke down, wouldnât start, etc. The vehicles are shut off after every âraceâ and then pull started back on again. The tracks we were used to would govern the vehicles into a low idle (to save on gas / noise / time to start the next race), but leave them running. a. We will note that the track itself is pretty well maintained and as long as your car isnât a lemon, itâs a lot of fun.
Ride attendants missing from attractions. We get it, during a slower period / sales you arenât going to have an attendant at the least used attractions (kiddie rides). There needs to be some way to call / notify the staff that someone is needed. Out of the couple times we did have to go to the front desk to get someone, once we were told that attendant was on lunch break and the other we had to wait for them to finish a different attraction first. Weâve never seen an attendant for mini-golf nor the batting cages / equipment rental desk.
There are 2 mini-golf courses. Both were acceptable, but did show considerable weathering/age. Several of the holes were water logged (even though it hadnât rained in over a week), so we can only assume there are drainage or irrigation problems.
Laser Tag was fun. The arena is decently sized for a larger group. The equipment / vests leave a bit to be desired. We were literally standing behind someone shooting the small colored areas on their vest and didnât register hits/kills. Lots of corners, places to hide/ambush, windows, etc.
The arcade. This has to be our most loathed portion of the establishment. Weâve been several times now and on every single visit we had to get the assistance of a worker (whom can be hard to find most of the time) several times to fix a game, credit tokens that the machine ate, replace tickets that had run out, cycle a game, etc. Weâd likely be on a first name basis with them by this point, but alas we donât want to call any of them out. There are always machines that are broken / off / not working properly. Between visits we havenât actually seen most of them get fixed. They just remain off or with the coin slots covered with a Out of Order sign. a. Cost of playing token games. A majority of the games on the arcade floor take 4 tokens for 1 credit. Yes, thatâs right⌠$1 per play! With some even jumping that up to 8 tokens. The enjoyment / possible win rate of games against the cost to play them just doesnât make sense. Most of the 4 token games should be 2 at best if not 1. No arcade game should cost more than 4 tokens to play, period.. and those should be the rare, super new, super expensive games.
The staff was very pleasant and helpful when needed. We get it, itâs not their fault that the place has been left to slowly disintegrate, and are appreciative for all their kindness and helpfulness when an issue arose. We did not encounter anyone whom was rude or abusive. The staff seemed to be mindful of the kiddos and enjoyed their jobs (even for more than just...
Read moreWe took our daughter Saturday night, it was the first and last time we will ever give our money to this place. It's a Saturday night, so first off you would think they would be properly staffed but after paying for our daughter to ride the mini-roller coaster, we along with multiple other people had to hunt someone down in order to get on a ride that they are selling tickets for. The concession stand had one person taking orders. One person handling arcade ticket prizes and nobody in the candy shop.
We tried the mini-golf, not much to mess up here. But it's just the same 6 foot holes, very poorly maintained and very basic. After this we decided to just go to the arcade inside. Surprisingly it was very hard to spend $10 worth of tokens! Nothing works. I'd say easily 40-50% of games were broken and even more not giving tickets. Finally, in a last effort to have some fun, we wanted to do the batting cages. I don't remember the exact count but out 6 cages, 3 were chained up, softball wasn't working at all and the 3 cages that appeared to be working ending up taking our "tokens". One was in use, the cage I used worked for about 15 pitches (supposed to get 20 pitches per token). Another guest next to us tried the last cage and it didn't work at all.
It's not even worth your time to try and find anyone in charge because the place is so disorganized and there are so many problems you can tell management does not care the least bit. It's operated by kids that are just there to talk to their friends. The entire time we were there the only people of any authority are the police officers that are just there to police the overwhelming amount of unsupervised kids.
As long as they have a water park that doesn't make people sick, a haunted house in the fall and kids spending their parent's money nothing will ever change this place. It's blatantly obvious there is no attempt to upkeep this facility or improve on anything they have. As a working family with a kid, there is plenty of higher quality experiences to spend our money on in...
Read moreThis place was extremely disappointing and poorly run. If zero stars were allowed, thatâs what Iâd give it. A coworker was holding a party there for her kidâs birthday. There was no table reserved and labeled for the party, like all the others. No one ever came to check on us once we got outside, and because there wasnât an assigned table, we kept asking for assistance, but no one came until 20 minutes after the âpartyâ was supposed to start. They claimed they couldnât find us despite us being at the party picnic table area the entire time, but finally got us a table set up.
30 minute the party was supposed to start, we were finally seated. They were short on the plates and cups brought out, so I shared with a friend. Once we wrapped up the pizza lunch, I was so excited to get on the water slides. I hadnât been to a water park since I was a kid.
You need a tube to go down almost all of the slides, but guess whatâs almost impossible to find? Thatâs right, a tube. You wander around the park, looking for an unattended tube. It took almost 20 minutes to find one, and we traded off using the tube among 4 adults and 2 kids, until we managed to snag an additional single tube. This tube was half flat, but we could never find anyone to fill it up, or a better one to replace it with, so we just made it work.
Some slides require double tubes, so once everyone had ridden the single tube slides, we roamed around bartering with people with double tubes, asking if they wanted to trade. We rode each slide once, and decided that was good enough.
Iâm not sure how much they spent to have a birthday party there, but I imagine it was too much for the experience provided. If your park requires tubes to ride the slides, you should provide enough tubes for your customers. Iâd say well over half the people in the park didnât have a tube. Even the lazy river had to be enjoyed by just half floating and half walking. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to waste your...
