Well ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you about the biggest turd hole on the East Coast. Let's first start out with the location. The best bet in Monument is located in one of the grimiest neighborhoods in all of Jacksonville. Jacksonville has one of the highest murder rates in the country let alone the state of Florida. Security outside of the building is rather minimal they have a flunky riding around on a golf cart , and a unoccupied police cruiser outside. That is your security. The employee parking lot has their own security guards, but for the customers, the people that pay the bills , well , they don't get any security, you're on your own! Hopefully you don't get murdered or robbed! Now let's start with the building itself. This place used to be some type of home and garden place. They made it into a poker room. Under normal circumstances this would seem like a normal transition, but I have found out the air filtration system has never been cleaned out since the change of ownership and most of the employees at the best bet claim that the air is moldy and many of them have allergy problems. There is a certain musty smell that romes the air at the best bet. If you get sick, good luck ! If you've ever been to the best bet you will notice that their carpet where the two five and two two tables are is pretty nasty and if you look under the tables you'll see that there's black mold. It's flat-out disgusting and also smells. The customer service there used to be somewhat decent. This brings me to my biggest issue . The customer service here has really taken a dive .. 70% of the dealers are incompetent, the floor staff is practically brain dead. Most of the floor people are there only to collect a paycheck put in their 8-hour shift and go home. They do not and I mean do not care about the customers. Now this would be normal in a casino setting but this is not a casino this is a poker room which their business is poker so they do not have other table games to support it. If you like poor customer service and being treated like a caged animal this is a place for you. What they have here is a prison guard versus inmate mentality . The floor staff believes they are prison guards policing the poker players which would be the inmates . They often will yell at players and belittle them . If the staff was allowed to beat the poker players as if they are inmates I guarantee you they would do it. These guys think that they are Nicky Santoro. The food prices are rather High you have to pay a dollar fifty for water $2 for a Pepsi $4 for orange juice. Once a man order and orange juice with no ice and they charged him a dollar extra. This is a true story I have no reason to lie. The Waitresses look good.. but boy do they suck at their job. These dealers are flat-out incompetent- just like the waitresses - just like the floor staff. They have these little 20 year old hostesses they hire which are flat-out incompetent as well. They give the hostesses no training. I personally feel as if a homeless person could do these jobs better. They have a hard time sitting players balancing tables and transferring players from table to table. This reflects on the management, they could honestly care less whether you walk in that poker room or not.... They know they're still getting paid.... This is the highest rake and all the country preflop if you raise their taking minimum $2 . $3 on 20 $4 on 30 $5 on 40. Also every hand there's a $2 take for the bad beat jackpot I dare you to find a higher rake in North America. The only reason why anybody puts up with this turdhole is because the games are still good here. In the year 2018 that's rare. But how long can this last. It's almost not worth to fight the stress that they will put on you. It's almost not worth it. If you want to be dehumanized this is a...

In town on business and played about 20 hours here so far and unfortunately I can’t say I’m too impressed.
Positives: Lots of parking Fairly quick to be seated Most dealers are reasonably quick Service comes around frequently Chip runners are quick and available Starbucks in the building and food has been good Clean bathrooms
Negatives: Located in a lower income area, does not feel safe in the parking lot and surrounding area, but you can request a walk out to your vehicle which I have done. Most employees have been friendly, but I have had several negative interactions with floor, just unnecessary rudeness to basic questions. Cage staff is similarly grumpy. Room is run very greedy - no comps, they rake even if it doesn’t go to the flop, rake is slightly higher than many Vegas rooms. You have to ask for reduced rake shorthanded. Room is dated but it’s fine. No table management software like PokerAtlas, they just have dealers calling out open seats and floor running around all the time. Transfer list is done on paper - it’s 2023 this is bush league stuff at this point. Small sample size of play, but I’ve never seen a player pool so quick to anger as they are here. I saw two players start name calling after one asked to see how much another player had behind after that player called an all-in in a multiway pot. Is this Kindergarten?
General poker observations: 2/2 is capped at 300 and the average table is fairly unplayable unless you’re looking for bingo. Many many players only buying in for 25-50bb, and most hands are a multi-way limp fest. If you’re a for profit player, this is an extremely boring, but profitable game. 2/5 is fairly good but it’ll take a bit longer to get a seat than 2/2. 800 max which I think is reasonable.
It’s a serviceable poker room. I’ve heard lots of recurring comments from the regulars that BestBet desperately needs some competition in the area, and I think that sums it up nicely. Until that happens, BestBet won’t have any real incentive to improve the experience for their players.
Absolutely does not compare in quality or atmosphere to most poker rooms in Texas or Vegas - if anything it reminds me most closely of the poker room at...
Read moreI agree with the persons' comments below 100% to which i Quoted, Very Poor operation! But in my own words management is over bearing. People skills are very poor. And I use the term very very loosely, management! I've experienced and seen Customers treated is if they owe the people that work there something. I will not be returning after having to tolerate the lack of professional skills the people there have. I've owned more then my share of businesses and If I had people working with me like the types that do there I would ask them to resign. I own a national company and am about to open another. I 25 years business experience. I'll be surprised if they last for the long term or sell out to a better company. Too bad for the customers and people who travel for a visit. Here's a copy of the quote..... "Although this is a large poker room with new facilities, the quality of customer service is bad compared to the other poker rooms. Beware, it's true the managing staff show little or no respect to the players at this place! I've never witnessed so many confrontations between managing staff and players at other places. Nothing is complimentary there, $1.50 for a coffee or water, and no player rewards program like the other poker rooms. The house rake is one level higher than usual. They collect up to $2 jackpot drop per hand to maintain high hand promotions. It's an aloof business that focuses only on greed and is slowly losing clientele." This person hit the nail on the head. Finally, I wouldn't have given one star but Google wouldn't let me do this. Save your money and find another place to do...
